Mcdodo smartphone wireless charger for car review: Hold on
14.09.23Car accessories remain relevant as ways to enhance comfort. Although there are more and more cars on the market that support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, there are still plenty of models without on-board systems that would make using a smartphone safe and convenient. Car holders with built-in charging are a common solution, but this is the first time that it has been equipped with several mounting options. We’ll tell you about this from Mcdodo.
Design and ergonomics
The full name generally describes all the main features of the device – Mcdodo Duai Coil Wireless Charger Car Mount. This wireless charging holder keeps your smartphone within the driver’s line of sight while supporting the popular Qi standard. You can attach it either to the ventilation grilles, to the dashboard or to the windshield. The kit includes a clothespin and a foot with adjustable links and a suction cup.
The device has a built-in proximity sensor and physical buttons for raising and spreading side quotes. The buttons are highlighted in white and backlit so they can be found in the dark. Physical buttons are needed, for example, if the driver has already turned off the car and there is no power from USB. The built-in capacitor accumulates enough energy so that the holder can be opened and closed a dozen more times.
The holder can accommodate a smartphone with a maximum width of 85 mm, this is quite a lot and all kinds of Pro, Plus, Maxi and Ultra versions of smartphones will most likely fit. The sliding quotes have a plastic base and are quite durable. The motor firmly clamps them onto the smartphone body. There are rubber pads on the side and bottom quotes.
The clamp on the ventilation grille has an additional support at the bottom. Firstly, the charger itself does not fall, and secondly, the already quite heavy device, even together with the smartphone, will not break off the bars.
The second suction cup mount is flexibly adjustable for any angle of fixation. It has two hinges for adjusting the overall angle of inclination and the angle at the connection point with the holder itself.
The charger is attached to the dashboard using an adhesive layer on a suction cup. The structure is held just as firmly on the windshield.
Equipment
The charger has two induction coils, so you can charge smartphones of any size, and contact will be made with maximum probability. Of course, there are restrictions only on width. Compatibility with clamshells Galaxy Flip is separately noted, that is, specific forms -Smartphone factors are not an obstacle.
Charging is connected to the power source using the supplied or any other USB Type-C cable. The length of the set is 1 meter.
The maximum charging power is up to 15 W, the current version of the Qi standard is supported – the third. Any Android or iOS smartphones can be charged.
Impressions
Mcdodo Duai Coil Wireless Charger Car Mount is representative of the typical but popular wireless charging car mounts today. It has high-quality materials and a durable design, several complete locking options and a pair of coils for compatibility with smartphones of different sizes. If your car has nothing to connect your smartphone to to display navigation on a separate screen, this option will be convenient and safe.
