The simplified system of taxation for Ukrainian providers is not supported. There will be no monopoly

Ukraine internet

Recently, some large telecom operators and a number of officials in Ukraine have been actively promoting the idea of canceling the simplified taxation system for providers of Internet access services.

It is emphasized the illegality of the cancellation of the simplified tax for operators who provide Internet access services and at the same time do not carry out other activities that contradict the possibility of using a single tax.

Such a step will not only lead to the monopolization of the market with a corresponding increase in consumer tariffs, but will also threaten the security of electronic communications, because the “secret” of the stability of domestic networks during the war is their decentralization and a significant number of operators – representatives of small businesses with Ukrainian owners.

Back in November 2023, the State Tax Service sent an appeal to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine with a proposal to consider this issue by the Expert Council for the Preparation of Generalized Tax Consultations and provided theses for the draft decision on the impossibility of suppliers of electronic communication services to be payers of a single tax.

The expert council under the Ministry of Finance at its meeting on March 21 removed from consideration the issue of preparing tax consultations in this area, so the situation in the industry remains unchanged for now.

At the same time, for the final solution of the problem, further work of specialized state bodies and representatives of operators is necessary to create a working mechanism for informing tax officials about the types of activities of operators.
