Nike used AI to develop the new A.I.R. for the Olympic Games in Paris
21.04.24
Nike has unveiled a new collection of hyper-futuristic sports shoes called “A.I.R.” (Athlete Imagined Revolution), designed specifically for its top athletes ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Among the athletes for whom these prototypes were created are celebrities such as Kylian Mbappe, Sha’Carrie Richardson and Victor Vembanyama.
The collection includes 13 prototypes that will not go on sale. These models stand out for their extreme design and use of advanced technology. For example, Richardson’s sneakers feature a spiral-shaped fabric that wraps around the ankle, while Mbappe’s sneakers feature a clear “fin” on the back.

The design process involved interviewing athletes and analyzing their ideas using artificial intelligence. Nike describes this collection as an “imagined athlete revolution”, a reference to their famous Air technology.

In addition to the futuristic shoes, Nike also unveiled enhanced AR statues of athletes, a preview of the new Olympic uniform and other innovations at the Paris presentation. Among the guests of the event was rapper Travis Scott.
