Top 10 Battle Royale Games: who is the most hunger?
06.08.18
Battle royales in video games are becoming increasingly popular. This is evidenced by the fact that this mode will appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V. And there are quite a lot of stand-alone games in which you need to defeat all your opponents and remain the only survivor. We have selected ten of the best of them.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
Although the battle royale genre appeared in the early 2000s (at that time it was called Last man standing and was available in many multiplayer games with deathmatch mode), it now owes its popularity to PUGB. The game was released on Steam at the beginning of 2017 in early access, which did not stop it from becoming one of the most popular by the end of the year with 18 million copies sold and a maximum number of players of 2 million simultaneously. Now PUGB is a standard for other games in this genre, many elements of which were borrowed by them.

Fortnite Battle Royale
This game appeared in the wake of the success of PUGB. It was released in September 2017 as an independent offshoot of the Fortnite game and quickly gained popularity, even overtook PUBG. By March 2018, the number of players exceeded 45 million, and by June the game’s network traffic was 37 TB/s – a record for online games. Fortnite Battle Royale itself features cheerful cartoon graphics and less on-screen violence, as well as a large number of supported devices – not only PC, but both popular console platforms, as well as iOS and Nintendo Switch. The main feature of the game mechanics is the ability to build shelters and structures. Otherwise, the game is very similar to PUGB, which is why the publishers of the latter even sued the authors of Fortnite

Hunt: Showdown
The most atmospheric game in our review. In it, hunting monsters in the swamps of Louisiana intersects with confrontation with other teams for loot and reward. Cool graphics, charismatic characters and a variety of tactics make this game very promising. It’s still in early access, but it already deserves all kinds of compliments. It should be even cooler next.
-
Cuisine Royale
This game was intended as an April Fool’s joke, but it turned out to be extremely successful and is slowly gaining its popularity. Among the comic elements, the equipment that stands out is the pots, pans, frying pans, etc. This may seem frivolous to some, but the well-developed combat, good graphics optimization, lack of bugs and free status make it very attractive to a wide range of players.
-
ARK: Survival of the Fittest
If most games focus on realism, then this battle royale does not smell of it. Want to ride a Tyrannosaurus rex? Please. Fire-breathing dragon? Right here. Random acid rain? What could we do without it? The emphasis in this game is on fun and madness. And, I must say, this has its own zest.
-
Darwin Project
An original mixture of the survival and battle royale genres. The enemies here are not only the characters, but also the environment, where the bitter cold reigns. Also interesting is the gameplay, which combines different elements – here we collect leather for armor, and here we become invisible thanks to futuristic technologies. But the main feature is the presence of the director’s role. When 10 players fight on a map, 11 can control the process, setting certain conditions, helping or harming the participants. A truly original solution among dozens of similar royal battles. And that’s great.
-
H1Z1: King of the Kill
In the original H1Z1 you had to survive and fight off zombies. In the battle royale version, zombies have not disappeared (although they do not pose a particular threat and are rare), but the mechanics of the genre have appeared – only one can survive on the island. The game is made quite well and has its own characteristics, for example, transport plays an important role. H1Z1: King of the Kill’s similarities to PUGB make it a good alternative to the latter.
-
ArmA III – Battle Royale
A mod for ArmA III from the author of PUGB appeared much earlier than PUGB itself. Here the main emphasis is on realistic ballistics and a large detailed map. In general, the same ArmA III, only with a battle royale instead of military missions. A distinctive feature of the mod is its emphasis on sniper duels. And although the playing area here also narrows towards the end of the round, due to the large space, you first have to shoot enemies from a distance.
-
Islands of Nyne
The main feature of this game is its futuristic setting, vaguely reminiscent of Crysis. The game features drones, force shields, jetpacks, advanced weapons and wonderful landscapes of a tropical island. Otherwise, it’s a traditional battle royale. This is the place for fans of futuristic shooters.
-
The Culling
This game is very similar to PUGB, but it predates it. Everything is traditional here – landing on the map, a narrowing playing area, searching for objects and the task of being the last survivor. It’s worth a try for those who for some reason don’t like PUGB. Moreover, it costs much less.
