Redmi Buds 3 TWS headphones review: expectations
28.02.22
Redmi Buds 3 is the company’s new generation of completely wireless headphones. They received a design familiar from the Apple version of TWS headphones. All Xiaomi headphones gradually acquired original features, but for budget solutions, the approach is still fair.
Design and equipment
The headphones are made in white, in a glossy plastic housing. They are resistant to small amounts of moisture and dust thanks to IP54 certification.
There are proximity sensors on the inside of the headphone housing that allow you to pause playback when the headphones are removed from your ears. On the outside there is a touch area, by tapping on which you can switch tracks, start and stop playback/receive and reject calls.
The headphones received a noise reduction system. Therefore, each case has two microphones. The main one is located at the bottom end of the legs, next to the charging contacts. And the second one is decorated with a round mesh on the outside, next to the recess of the touch zone.
The case has a minimum of elements. On the wide surface there is a round button to activate pairing and an LED next to it. At the bottom end there is a USB Type-C charging port. To pair with a smartphone, you need to hold down the only button on the case body and do not forget to first remove the stickers from the headphone contacts.
System and operation
Redmi Buds 3 has 12mm speakers. In terms of sound, the headphones were surprising. Considering that this is an overhead form factor, the bass should be practically undetectable in them. However, if you manage to install them tightly enough in the auricle, some low frequencies appear. Otherwise, this is more of a high-quality stereo headset for every day with the ability to listen to music in acceptable quality.
For daily use, the model opens up thanks to the presence of noise reduction. In such a case, his work has its own nuances. First of all, because the sound insulation here is not the best for structural reasons. In addition, some surrounding sounds are drowned out a little strangely. However, the very presence of noise cancellation already has a positive effect on comfort during calls, especially in moderately noisy environments.
Support for True Wireless Mirroring technology is implemented to ensure synchronous sound transmission between headphones and increase connection stability. In practice, we noticed that yes, the problem of audio out of sync, which was present in the first models of Xiaomi TWS headphones, has already been solved.
In terms of autonomy, this model does not set records, but has indicators that are acceptable for a couple of working days. The headphones run up to 5 hours on their own batteries and get up to 20 more hours when charging in the case. There is support for fast charging: 10 minutes is enough to extend the work by 1.5 hours.
Impressions
Redmi Buds 3 turned out to be a worthy continuation of the company’s budget line of wireless headphones. They got rid of technical shortcomings and at the same time gained a set of useful functions, such as noise reduction. The design may not surprise anyone, but these are still verified and proven forms, so if the format of the inserts suits you, you should pay attention to them as an everyday solution.
