In 2023, Steam released a record number of cooperative games – 799 – 36% of total releases

VG Insights reports an increase in the number of cooperative games released and sold on Steam in recent years. In 2023, 799 cooperative games were released on Steam, surpassing those of 2022 (701 games), 2021 (650 games) and 2020 (647 games).

 

Last year, 36% of all games sold on Steam were cooperative. Forecasts for 2024 show that this trend will continue: it is estimated that 46% of Steam games sold have a cooperative element.

 

Helldivers 2 has been particularly successful, accounting for 28% of all co-op game sales on Steam in 2024.

 

In addition, you note that the average sales of cooperative games on Steam is close to 40,000 copies, while the average sales of non-cooperative games is significantly lower – close to 5,000 copies.
