Review of Bloody MH390 Bluetooth headphones: only for invited
02.02.24
The A4Tech company produces under its brand Bloody a wide variety of gaming devices – mice, keyboards, headphones. Most of them receive functional features through proprietary software. The design and ergonomics correspond to gaming tastes – a lot of light, iridescent shades, metal, black plastic, aggressive shapes and the like. Therefore, until now the brand has been associated exclusively with the gaming industry. However, the new model of Bloody MH390 wireless headphones breaks this stereotype. Although in their description the company makes a remark that the headphones are well suited for gaming.
We would describe the Bloody MH390 as a civilian model. Their design harkens back to the tube era, with large headphones featuring leather, metal and smoothly shaped speaker cups. Perhaps someone will see elements of Apple AirPods Max here, and for others they will remind Beats. But there is nothing borrowed here. MH390 look original, retrofuturistic and whatever, let’s face it, they’re good.
Design and ergonomics
The headbands and ear pads are upholstered in light gray synthetic leather. The coating has a suitable texture and is pleasant to the touch. The housing of the speaker cups is made of smooth plastic. Inside the headband there is a metal frame that presses the headphones tightly to the head. There are three colors of the model – white, like ours, black and khaki. True, khaki means some variation on the theme of silver with cream accents.
From an ergonomic point of view, the model also pleased me. The speaker cups, although small, completely cover the ear. In combination with this, the soft filling in the ear pads creates almost complete isolation from surrounding sounds. You don’t really need any digital noise isolation. The headband is also soft and does not put much pressure on the head from above. But in general, because the headphones are just out of the box, the stiffness of the headband seems to be greater than it will be after a month or two of active use.
The earcups rotate 90°. They also have vertical deflection, so the cups are very flexible. It is convenient to use one ear with headphones on. The head coverage of the headphones is well adjusted. Each half of the headphones extends a few centimeters.
As for the controls, the buttons here are also quite minimalist. They are only on the right speaker housing. The slider is responsible for turning on the power. Separate three buttons for switching tracks and play/pause. The buttons are spaced apart and have a relief, so you can get used to them fairly quickly.
There is also a connector for analog connection, it is also on the right, at the bottom end. The kit includes a meter-long cable. To charge the headphones, USB-Type-C is used, which is placed on the left speaker housing.
Both ports have small LEDs. On the left, respectively, is an indication of the charging process, on the right, occasionally blinking, is the operation of the headphones themselves. The microphone hole for calls is also on the right speaker, slightly in front.
Equipment and sound
The headphones feature 40mm drivers with a MOCI hybrid diaphragm made using “advanced biotechnology with mycelium and carbon fiber.”
The headphones have really clear highs and mids, which are combined with deep and pleasant bass. This is all designed for both music and movies with games. Headphones reproduce all this well. It’s a paradox, but that’s probably why we were missing some common part. This can be partially mitigated by adjusting the equalizer. But in this price range this is one of the best options for sure.
The headphones have a lot of things, they seem too universal. But this does not detract from their overall convenience, pleasant design and good equipment.
The microphone on the headphones is omnidirectional, so you can hear your surroundings quite well during conversations. On the other hand, modern smartphones and laptops often already have software noise reduction algorithms.
The built-in battery lasts for 35 hours. In fact, for about a week, 4-5 hours a day, we were able to listen to them without recharging. What’s more pleasant is the fast charging function, with which 3 hours of playback can be obtained after 15 minutes of connection to a power source.
Impressions
Bloody MH390 have become an interesting representative of headphones for both everyday use and gaming. Like Pikachu in Raichur skin, they look like average headphones for music, walking on the street, and also a stylish accessory. But they are just as good for gamers who don’t like aggressive black shapes and flashing LEDs. For music, it’s only worth adjusting the equalizer. Having a good price, they have decent sound that satisfies you when watching movies, listening to music and playing games.
