Review of the Baseus universal compressor: pumping
25.03.24
The digitalization of everything has long reached various accessories for cars. Some time ago, the already well-known Chinese company Baseus, in turn, reached them. The company’s universal compressor is interesting because it has a built-in battery, a pressure sensor and good assembly, for which its devices from Alika are valued. By the way, there are already Ukrainian sites with Baseus products.
Design
Baseus Inflator Pump, with its strict and seemingly unambiguous marketing name, primarily looks like a large power bank. However, many holes on the ends, threads and an air intake hole hint that there is something else here. A 54 W compressor is installed, which is enough to inflate car, motorcycle and bicycle wheels, as well as small household items, as in this case, balls.
It uses USB Type-C connector for charging. There is also a flashlight that will allow you to find the wheel nipple in the dark or illuminate the ball during a night game.
The weight and dimensions, like for a car compressor, are quite small. Let’s just say thatit can be lost in the trunk of a car, but it is already too heavy for transportation on a bicycle. By the way, it is worth considering that in winter, at subzero temperatures, it is better not to store electronics in the car. Although there are various fuses here, condensation and accelerated self-discharge of the battery have not been canceled.
The kit includes all kinds of adapters (needle and cones) for balls, a 20 cm long hose for screwing onto nipples and a short wire for charging.
Try it
The case has a small screen and buttons around it. The “M” button changes the operating mode, the arrows allow you to select pressure values, “Ok” starts the compressor, and the button with a strangely designed light bulb icon turns on the flashlight. There are no double or triple functions. The only thing is that pressing the “M” button for 3 seconds will allow you to select other units of measurement – psi, bar, kpa, kg/cm².
The Baseus compressor also has a pressure sensor, which, when the power is turned on and the hose is screwed onto the nipple, automatically detects the pressure. The choice of what to pump does not affect the power of the pump, but presets the target pressure. For cars, for example, it is 2.5 bar.
You can use the arrow buttons to select a different value. Here we’ll make a reservation that the compressor pumps up to the given numbers minus one tenth, in the case of measurements in bars. Therefore, if you want to get a closer value, set the value with a margin.
In the wheels of cars, motorcycles and balls, autonomy is calculated and declared. Still, the capacity in milliamps or watt-hours is difficult to estimate from the point of view of compressor operation. So, how long does the battery lastBaseus Inflator Pump and what scenarios there may be:
- 9 passenger car tires from 2.0 to 2.5 bar (about 4 minutes per tyre), that is, two sets: winter-summer and spare;
- 17 motorcycle tires (approximately 2 minutes to inflate one tire) – scooter rental in Bali;
- 54 balls (size 5) (about 1 minute of pumping one ball) – for football, volleyball, water and floor tournaments, and enough for a game of knockout.
According to their estimates, the stated values are similar to the truth with the usual correction of 10-15%. The charge remaining scale here is graphical and consists of four divisions, so it is difficult to understand the exact remaining charge and discharge dynamics.
Impressions
An indispensable thing if you drive a car, ride a bike and regularly play ball or pump up a swimming pool at your dacha. If at least 2 out of 3 points occur in your life, Baseus Inflator Pump is definitely a necessary purchase. After a couple of weeks of use, there were no complaints. The pressure sensor hardly lies, tenths of a bar don’t count. As for autonomy, even if the battery is completely degraded, it can be connected to the network and used as if it were charging.
