Review of all-in-one ASUS AiO A5 (A5702WVA): all at once
12.04.24
In recent years, monoblocks have become less and less popular among ordinary users and are increasingly becoming the prerogative of offices, shops, other enterprises, as well as educational institutions. However, the models offered are very different and not all are so boring. There are versions with very powerful processors, functional screens and a wide selection of ports. Today we’ll tell you about one of the top all-in-one models from ASUS.

Design and ergonomics
Over all these years since the first all-in-one PCs appeared on the market, their form factor has not changed much. The monoblock is also as similar as possible to a monitor with a thicker body. The main differences are, of course, the full-fledged computer hardware. As a result, we have an increased number of connectors and a wireless Internet connection. All this is extra and fits into the back of the case. The ports, at the same time, are partially spaced on the back side, and some, which are supposed to be more popular, are on the side.
ASUS AiO A5 is an example of a monoblock with a strict design. The black body is only slightly diluted by informal molding accents on the front panel under the screen.
Above the display there is an add-on that houses a webcam and optional sensors. The webcam is covered with a physical curtain, the button of which is behind.
In our case, a laconic stand, matching the candy bar, allows you to change the angle of the screen in the vertical plane. Its position cannot be adjusted horizontally or vertically. But if you order a different type of stand, these adjustment options can be obtained.
There are a few more design elements and ports on the side faces, behind the monitor panel. Sitting in front of the candy bar, the user does not see them, except perhaps in a mirror room. Therefore, you will have to turn on the power, connect cables and flash drives by touch or by standing up.
An optical drive is installed on the right side, but in Ukraine the demand for them is so low that they are not available even for corporate orders.
On the left side there are some more “usable” ports. Among them are USB Type-C, Display Port in the same form factor, USB Type-A, analog audio and an SD card reader. There are more ports on the back side – several types of HDMI, a pair of fast and regular USB Type-A, a connector for the power supply and a lock.
The power supply, by the way, is very compact and can easily get lost on or behind a table. Its estimated power is 120 W. In addition to the all-in-one PC, a mouse and keyboard are also available in wireless or wired versions.
Equipment
We have already noted that all-in-one computers are sometimes perceived as a stationary version of a basic laptop with a large screen. In our case, we can talk about a very productive laptop. Although the available options for our market will be more economical.
If an Intel Core i7 P series processor is installed here in the top configuration, then models with U series processors will be sold in Ukraine. More specifically, 150U and 120U chip models. We present the test results for the version with Core i7-1360P, which is used in this sample. It is just enough for most tasks and even some games.
Of what is available with us, the top one is Intel Core 7 150U. This is a laptop processor for the BGA-1744 socket. It has 10 cores and 12 threads. The base frequency is 1800 MHz, but support for Turbo Boost technology allows you to automatically overclock to 5400 MHz. The chip has integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics (96EU), and the L3 cache size is 12 MB.
The all-in-one can be installed with up to 16 GB of RAM. The computer has two SO-DIMM slots, so the RAM can be upgraded if desired. We will sell options with 16 and 32 GB of RAM.
As for drives, we will have versions with 512 and 1024 GB SSD available. The computer has two M.2 slots for 2280 drives. The kit will also include a special set of adapters that will allow you to add a hard drive. In our sample, for example, a 1 TB HDD and another additional SSD are installed. So there are enough opportunities to expand the disk array.
As for the webcam, in this and the release version it will have a 1080p module. However, there will be no infrared sensors or proximity sensors in the Ukrainian versions. As well as touch screens, which in all variants are based on IPS matrices and have a resolution of 1920×1080. The color gamut includes sRGB at 100%. The maximum brightness level is 250 nits for the touch matrix.
Among communications, the candy bar has a Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3 module at its disposal. To connect wired Internet there is the mentioned Ethernet.
Impression
While studying this all-in-one, we were interested to see how the concept of all-in-one systems has changed over the years. We can conclude that in general the idea and approach have been preserved. Monoblocks are still a relevant alternative to a stationary personal computer. They are good when requests are small and there is no need to think about retrofitting.
It is suitable for office tasks and graphics work that does not require perfect color rendering and large resources for rendering. A touch screen option could be useful for commercial outlets where special software is installed to regularly fill out forms (menus and number of positions, for example) and send them to the database. For family use, such a candy bar will be enough for homework, typing, surfing, of course, and undemanding games. The ASUS AiO A5 model itself is a well-equipped solution, both in terms of hardware and peripherals.
