Cougar Combat Keyboard and Mouse Set Review: My +1
26.02.24
The Cougar company has released a Combat set. It’s consisting of a keyboard and mouse, each of which cannot be purchased separately. Today we will talk about them and figure out are them enough for a novice player.
Keyboard
This is a full-size mechanical keyboard in a skeleton style with unlabeled Red switches. The switches click nicely, are relatively loud. They have the light touch feel that is typical of Red switches. Mouse’s body is made of metal, which gives a pleasant feeling in use.
The keyboard supports N-Key Rollover. It’s means you can press multiple keys at the same time without losing press registration. Its weight is 770 grams, and the set of buttons is full-size. Additional functions available through key combinations with “Fn” are supported.
The Cougar Combat keyboard features anti-slip feet and can be raised up to approximately 5 degrees. The backlight is bright and beautiful, has different operating modes. There is no software and all settings are limited to control via key combinations.
If you choose this keyboard not only for games, but also for work and typing, then it would be a good idea to buy a wrist rest.
Mouse
Mouse has additional buttons, a DPI switch and a comfortable classic shape that will be comfortable for most users. Cougar mouse weighs only 65 grams. The mouse resolution reaches up to 8000 DPI, and the polling rate is 1000 Hz.
Cougar Combat Mouse Cable is braided and measures 1.8 meters long, providing plenty of room for comfortable use. The mouse wheel button is pressed clearly, as is the DPI change button. The mouse also has the ability to turn off the backlight by holding down the DPI button for 3 seconds. It is a nice option for users who prefer a more discreet design.
It is stated that the left and right mouse button switches can withstand up to 10 million clicks. The switches have some pressing depth and a dead zone. However, this has virtually no effect on the experience of playing at home, rather than in cyber-competition.
Impressions
The design and materials of the keyboard give the impression of an expensive and prestigious device. And tactilely it feels like a very high-quality device for this price segment. The mouse is more than versatile, lightweight and comfortable. Technical compromises don’t spoil the experience that much. There is an impression that in the Cougar Combat set the mouse is an addition and not an equal partner. On the other hand, the total cost is quite reasonable for the keyboard, so a mouse as a bonus is more than a plus.
