One UI 9.5 Surfaces AI Widget Generator
21.08.26
Samsung developers are preparing an interesting UI update: a leak points to the integration of a “My Custom Widget” feature in the upcoming One UI 9.5 version. This tool will allow users to generate widgets based on simple text descriptions of tasks, similar to how Google Gemini Intelligence handles the “Create My Widget” function.
What Is My Custom Widget in One UI 9.5
“My Custom Widget” is an AI tool designed to simplify home screen customization. The user simply enters a prompt in natural language explaining what the widget should do, and the system automatically determines the implementation algorithm and places the finished element on the home screen. The first evidence of the feature was provided by Fahad Ali Javed, who published a screenshot of the new interface capability.
The Difference From Gemini Intelligence
At the moment, it remains a point of debate whether Samsung’s “My Custom Widget” is a direct analog (or even a rebrand) of Google’s “Create My Widget” or if the company is developing its own independent solution. The intrigue is deepened by the fact that Google will roll out its “Create My Widget” tool to Pixel and Galaxy devices by the end of the summer, almost in parallel with the release of One UI 9.5.
This is what the widget creation interface might look like
Since the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8 flagships were released with One UI 9.0, users will only be able to try out AI-powered widget generation after updating their devices to One UI 9.5.
Why the My Custom Widget Generator Matters for One UI 9.5
If you have been following the development of Samsung’s skin, you may have already seen the first leaks showcasing the capabilities of the future firmware. “My Custom Widget” looks like a precise UX improvement, but it clearly illustrates Samsung’s strategy of deeply integrating generative AI into the standard One UI 9.5 toolkit, making workspace management more flexible and adaptive for the average user.
