Xiaomi Tieda: capabilities and specs of the new industrial humanoid robot

At the 2026 World Robot Conference, Xiaomi unveiled its latest breakthrough in industrial automation: the Tieda humanoid robot. Unlike many other prototypes, this project has already transitioned from laboratory testing to real-world operations on production floors.

The robot features anthropomorphic parameters adapted for performing manufacturing tasks at human workstations.

  • Design: 66 degrees of freedom support
  • Control System: Large Language Model (LLM) based

These specifications make Tieda more efficient than its 2022 predecessor, CyberOne. The new model features improved motor skills, enabling a significantly broader range of practical use cases.

To achieve this, the robot is equipped with advanced neural networks that allow it to move beyond rote motion, enabling it to independently recognize situations, assess its surroundings, and make decisions about subsequent actions without external control.

Practical Application: Factory Floor

Xiaomi’s car assembly plants have served as the primary testing ground for Tieda. During its pilot phase, the robot successfully handled the following tasks:

  • Nut Installation: Achieved a 98% success rate, trailing human performance by only 1%.
  • Logistics Operations: Sorting center console side covers and stacking boxes performed with approximately 90% efficiency.

The system’s high level of autonomy places Tieda on par with projects like Tesla Optimus, as both robots rely on deep learning rather than direct remote operation by a human.

Social Skills and the Future of Tieda

Beyond the manufacturing environment, the developers showcased the robot’s social capabilities at the 2026 World Rally Championship. Tieda served as an assistant, handing flowers to spectators, shaking hands, and using gestures. This demonstration confirms that Xiaomi intends to utilize the same hardware platform for both complex assembly processes and the service and entertainment sectors.

Xiaomi Tieda demonstrates that the era of humanoid robots is moving beyond exhibition stands and labs. While these machines were once limited to wowing crowds with basic movements, they are now learning to work alongside humans and execute actual production tasks. If Xiaomi can maintain this level of precision and scale the technology, Tieda could become one of the first examples of humanoid robots transitioning from flashy prototypes to a standard part of the industrial landscape.
