Voice prompts have appeared in the free offline navigation application MAPS.ME
02.12.15
The MAPS.ME application allows you to download detailed maps of almost any country absolutely free. Uses OpenStreetMap.
For full navigation you do not need Internet access. Address search, POI, route planning – all this is available offline in the MAPS.ME application.
For all its advantages, the MAPS.ME application was not entirely suitable for full-fledged car navigation. Due to the missing voice prompts, when navigating with MAPS.ME you need to regularly look at the screen of your mobile device, which is not always convenient or safe if you are driving.
But in the latest update of the MAPS.ME application, the developers have added voice prompts. At the moment, a very limited set of supported languages is available for voice prompts (Russian and Ukrainian languages are not available).
Also in MAPS.ME it is now possible to create routes between arbitrary points, and not just from the user’s current location.
And owners of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be able to try new features (adding tags, loading a menu when you click on the MAPS.ME icon) associated with 3D Touch (recognizing the pressure on the screen).
