Sony has patented an AI algorithm that predicts player actions
25.01.25
Sony has filed a patent for an innovative technology called “TIMED INPUT/ACTION RELEASE” aimed at reducing lag in gaming. This system uses artificial intelligence to predict player actions, which theoretically can reduce reaction time and improve the gaming experience.
The essence of the technology is to use a camera aimed at the player’s fingers. Using machine learning, the camera will track movements and predict which button the user will press, which can significantly speed up command processing. This solution is designed to eliminate the problem of delay between the player’s action and the system’s response, which in some cases can affect the game results.
Additionally, the possibility of integrating the sensor directly into the controller button is being considered, which opens up new ways to improve interaction with devices. The introduction of AI into gaming products is becoming an important part of Sony’s strategy aimed at improving the user experience.
However, it is worth remembering that not all patents become part of products, and it is unclear whether this technology will be implemented in future models of game consoles.
