Pornhub became a tax payer in Ukraine
03.05.24
The company MindGeek (or Aylo), which owns the adult content site Pornhub, has become a taxpayer in Ukraine. So now everyone can have a hand in replenishing the budget.
Last December, the State Tax Service of Ukraine imposed a fine on the owner of Pornhub in the amount of $5,543 for failure to pay the government’s coined “Google tax.”
But another social network with intimate content, the British OnlyFans, already pays tax in Ukraine. In the first quarter of 2024, the site replenished the Ukrainian budget by $0.7 million – almost the same amount as it paid for 9 months of last year.
In total, in the first quarter of 2024, 17 new non-resident payers were added who provide electronic services in Ukraine. Today, according to Getmantsev, only 78 (out of 105) payers have declared their tax liabilities in the amount of 2.4 billion hryvnia (25.5 million euros and $32.6 million).
Among the largest VAT payers among digital service providers who declared and paid more than 2 billion hryvnia even before the deadline were Google, Apple, Meta and Valve.
