NVIDIA RTX 5060 for laptops has fewer CUDA cores than the desktop version, but it won’t lag behind

Immediately after the official announcement of the GeForce RTX 5060 desktop graphics cards, NVIDIA also introduced a mobile version. At the moment, this is the youngest model among the new generation mobile GPUs, but the RTX 5050 may appear in the range in the future.

The mobile version uses the GB206 graphics chip. The number of CUDA cores is 3328 – this is 15% less compared to the desktop version, where there are 3840. Despite this, the performance of the mobile version, according to the company, will be close to the capabilities of the desktop solution.

The mobile RTX 5060 has a declared power consumption range from 45 to 100 W. Some laptop manufacturers note support for Dynamic Boost mode, which can add up to an additional 25 W, thereby increasing the maximum TGP indicator to 125 W.

Leading laptop manufacturers are already preparing models with the new RTX 5060 graphics. According to preliminary information from NVIDIA, the starting price of such devices will be $ 1,099. This is $ 100 higher than the starting price of laptops with RTX 4060 graphics of the previous generation. Sales of laptops and desktop RTX 5060 graphics cards will begin simultaneously – in May.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 и RTX 5060 Ti

Nvidia has officially introduced the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards, which are aimed at users looking for a balanced solution for upgrading their system without significant costs. The new products occupy a more affordable segment of the line and are designed to become an alternative to the expensive RTX 50xx series models.

The imminent release of these graphics cards became known long before the presentation thanks to leaks that were actively discussed in specialized sources. Therefore, the published characteristics did not come as a surprise to the audience that follows the development of Nvidia graphics solutions.

The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti will appear in two versions, differing in the amount of video memory: 8 and 16 gigabytes. The younger RTX 5060, in turn, is offered only with 8 gigabytes of memory.

The RTX 5060 Ti is equipped with 4608 CUDA cores and uses GDDR7 memory with a bandwidth of up to 28 Gbit/s. The bus width is 128 bits, and the total memory bandwidth is 448 GB/s. The power consumption of the video card is stated at 180 W.

The Nvidia RTX 5060 received 3840 CUDA cores and a similar 8 GB GDDR7 memory. The bus and bandwidth characteristics correspond to the older model, and the power consumption figure is 150 W.

Both video cards support ray tracing, as well as DLSS 4 technology, which includes the Multi Frame Generation function. The latter allows the system to create up to three additional frames for each rendered one, which, according to the developers, can increase the final frame rate by up to eight times compared to the classic rendering method.

There is no information about the actual performance of the GPUs at the moment – the relevant data will probably appear closer to the start of retail sales.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 will go on sale in May for $299. The RTX 5060 Ti will be available from April 16. The 8 GB modification will cost $379, and the 16 GB version – $429.
