This year we will begin publishing a series of materials with ranks. Now let’s see what is offered among the smartphones for a certain period – for the spring of 2024.
How we choose smartphones
The time frame of the sample is the release of the smartphone no earlier and no later than the 1st week of the designated period. Among the criteria are a flagship processor, a mid-range processor and, of course, price in several price classes. If several models share a position in terms of attractiveness (they are very close), then we will mention both models. And with Chinese brands it cannot be otherwise.
Yes, we will not forget flagship smartphones, because despite the high cost, these models almost compete in the number of sales with the middle, and sometimes even affordable, price class. But we will offer only those that came out during the designated period.
Middle class. Here we will try to choose not just by price, but by a good ratio of performance and cost. The most difficult range due to the dominance of models and historically the most popular smartphones.
Public sector employees – of course, let’s see which latest smartphone model turns out to be the cheapest in Ukraine and a couple more interesting offers from the low-end segment.
Let’s not remember models with increased storage capacity – 512 GB or 1 TB. This is a rather niche need and the price there does not reflect the real position of the model on the market. Therefore, the selection will include minimal configurations, with possible reservations. Comparison of similar phones will be based on the main criteria – screen, chip, battery. Prices in more or less official stores will also be given. No name sales outlets will of course offer a lower price, but it’s unclear why.

Flagships
The top-end Samsung in gold (light yellow) color topped price aggregators in positions at the top. The average price for the minimum configuration is 55,000 UAH. If you need the best camera, then this is only the ultra-model. True, the model is as big as the deck of an aircraft carrier and in the hands of the average person, all the latest generations of Ultra look like a thick tablet. This model already has an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh, and the charging power is 45 W.
Right after the top-end Samsung Galaxy Ultra are the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models. Their average price is 42 and 44 thousand UAH, which raises a number of questions about the feasibility if choosing between Galaxies.
The device has a design with a flat display and a hole for the front camera. ROG Phone 8 features Aura RGB lighting logo. The case is protected according to the IP68 standard. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is installed. The standard model is equipped with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the Pro variant has 16 or 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 11 UFS 4.0. Runs Android 14 operating system with ROG UI interface. A display from Samsung is installed, AMOLED LTPO measuring 6.78 inches and Full HD+ resolution. The screen supports a 165Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.

Smartphone from the Nubia brand, which belongs to the Chinese ZTE
Equipped with a 6.80-inch diagonal AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1116×2480 (FHD+). The maximum screen brightness is 1600 cd/m² and the refresh rate is 120 Hz. Available in 6+128 GB and 8+256 GB memory configurations. A slot for installing memory cards is available. On the back panel there is a triple camera: 50 + 8 + 2 megapixels. Front camera 13 megapixels. Battery capacity 5000 mAh.

Smartphone with 6.7-inch FHD+ display. 32-megapixel selfie camera with modem from Sony. Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and 8 + 256 GB of memory. Android 14 is installed. The battery is 5000 mAh and fast charging SUPERVOOC Charge with a power of 67 W.
Price in Ukraine – 14,000 UAH
In terms of performance, they are similar to: Honor 90, Samsung Galaxy A35.
3. Poco X6
Presented with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, peak brightness of 1800 nits. The battery has a capacity of 5100 mAh and supports 67 W fast charging technology. In Ukraine, a variant with 12 + 256 GB of memory is sold.

The best smartphone under $250
Memory 8 + 256 GB. Screen: 6.78″, AMOLED, size 2436×1080 and frequency 120 Hz. The Mediatek Helio G99 processor can already be found in more expensive models. OS: Android 14. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh.
Price in Ukraine – 9100 UAH
Models similar in specs and prices: Xiaomi Redmi Note 13, Blackview Oscal Tiger 12. And also protected: Sigma mobile X-treme PQ56, Fossibot F101 Pro and Blackview BV5300. As you can see, you can buy a secure smartphone in this niche.

The most budget smartphone in the 1st quarter of 2024 in Ukraine. Screen 6.6 inches; IPS size 1612×720 and even with 90 Hz frequency. Memory 4 + 128 NB, and processor: Unisoc T606OS. Android 13 installed and battery: 5000 mAh.
Technically, they are absolutely the same: Tecno Spark Go 2024, Blackview A52 Pro, Umidgi A15C, Doogee S41 Plus. But Nokia G22 with the same processor is 800 UAH more expensive, brand name.
The price in Ukraine is 3800-4000 UAH, that is $100. What else do you need for this money?
