AI in the workplace: only a third of Ukrainians are afraid of being replaced by neural networks

robota and AI

The latest data of the End of Year Survey, conducted by the Rating group, shed light on how artificial intelligence in Ukraine affects the mood of the working population. Despite the global trend of automation, the majority of the country’s citizens do not yet see algorithms as a direct threat to their professional activities.

How Ukrainians feel about AI

According to the results of a sociological study, the level of anxiety about technology in Ukraine remains relatively low. At the moment, only 30% of working citizens are concerned that artificial intelligence can completely or partially replace them in their position.

The majority of respondents – 69% – remain calm and believe that algorithms are capable of displacing them from the work process in the near future.

Who fears AI the most?

The survey found a clear correlation between the format of employment and the level of fear of automation. The data shows a marked difference between salaried employees and entrepreneurs:

  • Employees: 32% express concern about competing with neural networks.
  • Self-employed: Only 19% worry about technological progress.
  • Temporarily unemployed: This category of citizens turned out to be the most vulnerable — 40% of respondents from this group fear that the development of AI will complicate their employment.

Peace of the self-employed and anxiety of the unemployed

It is interesting to note that self-employed Ukrainians feel the most protected. About 78% of them do not worry at all about a possible replacement. At the same time, 60% of respondents in this category said that this issue does not bother them at all. In comparison, the high percentage of anxiety among the temporarily unemployed (40%) may be related to the feeling of increasing demands for digital skills in the modern labor market.

Features and location of Ukraine

The study emphasizes that Ukraine is among the top 10 European countries with the lowest level of fear of neural networks. In this list, the country neighbors the states of Northern Europe, as well as Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Germany and the Netherlands. This indicates either the high confidence of specialists in the uniqueness of their experience, or the specifics of the national labor market, where manual labor and human interaction still dominate.
