Xiaomi Debuts Robot Vacuum with Active Roller Mop and AI Mapping

The Xiaomi smart home ecosystem continues to grow. The company has announced the launch of the new Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum 7C, which has already appeared on the YouPin crowdfunding platform in China. The device is priced at approximately $340 at launch. While information about a global release has not yet been provided, such high-tier solutions typically reach international markets over time.

Instead of trying to reinvent the vacuum form factor, Xiaomi engineers focused on iterative improvements to cleaning quality. The key innovation is the transition from classic disc mops to an active roller module spinning at 200 RPM. The system supports a continuous flow of clean water to the roller, followed by active extraction of dirty water. This prevents the device from simply smearing dirt across the floor, as waste water is extracted from the system in real time.

The device includes an automatic 10mm roller lift function, which prevents low-pile carpets from getting wet during mopping. Additionally, the design can clean right up to baseboards thanks to an extendable mop mechanism. Engineers have also redesigned the main brush, integrating a blade for automatic hair cutting, which reduces manual maintenance and prevents pet hair tangles.

The technical specifications are equally impressive, with a maximum suction power of 30,000 Pa. The intelligent navigation system combines LiDAR and an AI camera capable of identifying over 220 different types of obstacles. Whether it’s scattered shoes or a bathroom scale, the algorithm allows the vacuum to build a route in real time, navigating around objects with high precision.

The Mijia 7C is targeted at users who need deep cleaning for hard floors. Switching to a roller module with continuous washing is a significant step forward compared to outdated static pads.
