Oko HD: A Breakthrough in Ukrainian HD Thermal Imaging Technology

Ukrainian company Oko Kamera has unveiled an ambitious project: the new Oko HD thermal imaging camera. The announcement took place at the DALO Industry Days 2026 event in Herning, where developers revealed the key parameters of the upcoming device.

Positioning

Oko HD is a specialized thermal imaging camera designed for operation in complex terrain and reconnaissance tasks. The key feature of the device is the integration of a sensor with a resolution of 1280×1024 pixels. This technological solution contains four times as many pixels as the company’s previous designs, which directly impacts image detail quality.

Technical Specifications and Capabilities

The main goal of the development is to ensure high efficiency in observing objects at significant distances. According to the company, thanks to the increased sensor density, the Oko HD camera will be able to recognize targets at distances inaccessible to standard analogs. Exact figures regarding detection range remain classified.

Representatives of Oko Kamera note that on the global market, LWIR (Long-Wave Infrared) standard thermal imagers with HD resolution are extremely rare products, and until now, such solutions did not exist at all in Ukraine.

Implementation Timeline and Release Date

At the moment, the project is in the active prototyping stage. The company’s schedule includes the following milestones:

• Late 2026: release of the first working samples and their delivery to customers who have submitted preliminary requests.
• 2027: start of full-scale serial production after successful completion of the testing cycle.

The manufacturer positions the Oko HD as one of the most affordable HD-supported thermal imaging solutions on the global market. Integrating such a camera into unmanned or ground-based robotic systems significantly increases their situational awareness. High image clarity and improved recognition range make this product an important addition to the ecosystem of defense developments working in the field of reconnaissance and target designation.
