Asus Challenges MacBook Pro With Powerful ProArt Creation 16

Asus releases powerful ProArt Creation 16: a MacBook Pro killer based on Ryzen AI 9

Asus has introduced an updated configuration of its powerful ProArt Creation 16 laptop to the Chinese market. The device is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series processor (Gorgon Point platform) and is positioned as a direct competitor to Apple’s professional laptops.

Design and Display

The laptop features a slim 14.9mm chassis and weighs 1.8kg, with Asus utilizing a durable CNC-machined body. The primary visual highlight is the 16-inch 2.8K OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Pricing and Availability

Currently, the new laptop is announced for the Chinese market at a price of 22,999 yuan. For user convenience, this is approximately $3,420 USD or €3,150. There is currently no information regarding availability in other regions.

Comparison to Competitors

According to internal processor tests, the Ryzen AI 9 465 delivers approximately 61% of the performance of the 15-core Apple M5 Pro. However, unlike the MacBook Pro, which relies solely on integrated graphics, the ProArt Creation 16 offers a full-fledged discrete RTX 5070 GPU, making it a preferred choice for specific graphics and 3D tasks.

Connectivity

The laptop features a modern selection of ports: HDMI 2.1, USB4, two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an SD card reader. For added convenience, the HDMI 2.1, USB4, one USB-A port, and audio jack are located on the left side, while the remaining ports and the SD reader are on the right.

First Impressions

The new Asus ProArt Creation 16 is a balanced solution for content creators who prioritize portability combined with the power of discrete RTX 5070 graphics. The high-quality OLED matrix makes the model an excellent tool for video editing and design, despite the Apple M5 Pro chip’s advantage in pure CPU computational performance.
