Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G smartphone review: well-heeled
24.08.26
The Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G has come close to the flagships, relying on a thin body, a good AMOLED display, an advanced set of cameras and a large battery. The specifications are not just good. It has a 200-megapixel main camera, a separate 50-megapixel telephoto module, a screen with a frequency of up to 144 Hz and 80-watt charging. Let’s talk about the new product in more detail.
Design and construction

Externally, the Reno16 Pro 5G adheres to the usual concept for the series: a neat body, a large screen and a noticeable camera block on the rear panel. The manufacturer offers two colors – Starlight Black and Pop White. The design of the back panel deserves special attention. The pattern with a three-dimensional effect looks interesting. class=”jCAhz ChMk0b”>But it is only available on the light version of the device.
The Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G has a fairly compact body by modern standards. The dimensions of the smartphone are 151.21×72.42 mm, and the thickness is 8.2 mm in the black version and 8.36 mm in the white version. The weight also remains moderate: about 188 and 191 g, respectively. For a model with a 6700 mAh battery, these are good figures.

At the same time, compactness is achieved here without excessively reducing the display. The overall dimensions turned out to be small, ergonomics are very successful, even without using a protective case. The smartphone lies confidently in the hands.
An optical fingerprint scanner is provided under the screen for unlocking. It works clearly. Facial recognition is also supported.

Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G display
The front part is occupied by a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2640×1216 pixels. The density is 460 ppi, and the screen can display up to 1.07 billion shades thanks to 10-bit color depth. For color reproduction, 100% DCI-P3 coverage is claimed in all three available modes — Standard, Natural and Vivid.

The main feature of the screen can be considered a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. However, Oppo separately specifies that the 144 Hz mode works only in some gaming scenarios. In normal tasks, the maximum frequency is 120 Hz, which is still enough for smooth scrolling through menus, websites and social networks. The polling frequency of the touch layer reaches 240 Hz.
The brightness is 600 nits in normal mode and up to 1800 nits in high brightness mode. The panel is based on Crystal Guard+AMOLED technology, and the protective glass is marked Crystal Guard.
Performance and Software
The Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 SUPER octa-core chip – an octa-core mobile platform built on the Armv9.2-A architecture and manufactured using a 4nm process technology. The CPU uses eight Cortex-A725 cores: one operating at a frequency of up to 3.4 GHz, three at up to 3.2 GHz, and four more at up to 2.2 GHz. The video chip is focused, among other things, on demanding games and supports MediaTek HyperEngine technologies.

The RAM is represented by the LPDDR5X standard, and the built-in storage is UFS 3.1. Quite capacious configurations of 12+256 and 12+512 GB are available. There is no support for memory cards.
This set is enough for comfortable everyday work, multitasking and modern games. The large amount of RAM allows you not to think about the number of simultaneously open programs, and the 512 GB storage is enough for a large media library and several large games.
The smartphone runs ColorOS 16.0. The proprietary shell is focused on smooth operation of the interface and a large number of settings. It is worth considering that the set of functions and some capabilities of the system may depend on the region and version of the device.
Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G cameras
The camera system is one of the main features of the Reno16 Pro 5G. There are three modules installed on the back panel: a 200-megapixel main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and optical stabilization, a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with an aperture of f/2.8 and optical stabilization, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and a viewing angle of 11. All three cameras have autofocus.

The main 200-megapixel sensor is primarily focused on obtaining detailed images. High resolution also makes it possible to use cropping without losing detail. The presence of OIS is especially useful when shooting in the evening and in other situations with a lack of light.
The telephoto module looks no less interesting. It is equipped with a 50-megapixel sensor and optical stabilization. For video, Oppo claims the ability to zoom up to 3.5x optically and up to 18x digitally.
The ultra-wide-angle camera also has a resolution of 50 MP and a viewing angle of 116 degrees. It will be useful for architecture, landscapes and group photos, where it is important to fit more space into the frame.

The front camera received the same 50 megapixels, f/2.0 aperture and a wide viewing angle of 100 degrees. There is autofocus, and the maximum video recording resolution is 4K at 60 frames per second. This makes the Reno16 Pro 5G an interesting option not only for regular selfies, but also for video calls and independent video shooting.
The main camera provides 4K recording at 30 and 60 frames per second, and EIS/OIS stabilization is also available in 4K. There is HDR, Pro Video, Dual-view, slow motion and underwater mode. The front camera also supports 4K video up to 60 frames per second and Dual-view.
It is important to note that the smartphone is interesting not only in terms of the dry characteristics of the cameras. can compete with famous camera phones. Previously, Oppo models made certain compromises in terms of shooting quality in order to reduce the cost. class=”ryNqvb”>You can’t say that in this generation. The footage, shot on both the main and front cameras, looks very decent.
Battery and charging
Another strong point of the smartphone is the battery. Its typical capacity is 6700 mAh, nominal – 6490 mAh. For a case with a thickness of about 8.2–8.36 mm, this is a very solid figure.
Fast charging with a power of up to 80 W using SUPERVOOC technology is supported. In addition, the smartphone is compatible with UFCS with a power of up to 80 W, as well as with a number of other charging standards with lower power.
A large battery in combination with a modern processor should provide reliable autonomy for a full day even with fairly active use. With a more moderate load, the reserve capacity allows you to expect longer operation without an outlet.
Communications
The Reno16 Pro 5G smartphone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. USB Type-C is used for connection. There is support for two SIM cards and eSIM, convenient for separating personal and work numbers or using a physical SIM together with an electronic one.
For wireless sound, support for SBC, AAC, LDAC, aptX, aptX HD and LHDC 5.0 is declared. There is no classic 3.5 mm audio jack.
Comparison with competitors
Oppo Reno16 Pro is currently in a rather difficult price position: at approximately UAH 44.4 thousand, it competes not only with premium mid-range models, but also with more affordable versions of real flagships.
Samsung Galaxy S26 – name can mean more
It may be close to the Reno16 Pro in price, but it is perceived as a full-fledged flagship. Samsung offers a more flagship platform, while OPPO takes revenge with a large battery and camera capabilities.
Google Pixel 10 Pro — camera competitor
Pixel 10 Pro costs about 33,900 UAH, which is noticeably cheaper than the Reno16 Pro. Its strengths are photo quality, pure Android, and AI features.
OnePlus 15R — price “destroyer”
At a price of about 26.7–28 thousand UAH, it is almost 16–18 thousand UAH cheaper than the Reno16 Pro. At the same time, it offers a powerful Snapdragon and a very large battery.
| Model | Estimated price | Main advantage over Reno16 Pro | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy S26 12/256 GB | ~34,500–46,000 UAH | Flagship processor, compactness, Samsung ecosystem | Smaller battery, slower charging |
| Google Pixel 10 Pro 16/128 GB | ~33,900 UAH | Camera, pure Android, AI features | 128 GB in a more affordable versions, slow charging |
| OnePlus 15R 12/256 GB | ~26,700–28,000 UAH | Much lower price, powerful Snapdragon, large battery | The camera is weaker than Oppo |
Impressions of Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G

Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G looks a balanced smartphone in which the manufacturer tried not to make a single characteristic the defining one. It combines a relatively compact body, a 6.32-inch AMOLED with a high refresh rate, 12 GB of RAM, a capacious battery and powerful charging.
At the same time, the most noticeable emphasis is placed on the capabilities of the cameras. The main 200-megapixel camera is complemented by a 50-megapixel telephoto with optical stabilization and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module. As a result, the set looks universal and covers most of the usual shooting scenarios – from landscapes to portraits and photographing distant objects.
Reno16 Pro 5G is also interesting in that you do not have to choose between a large battery and a relatively thin body. The 6700 mAh capacity at a thickness of just over 8 mm looks impressive, and the 80-watt charging reduces the time the smartphone has to spend near the outlet.
In general, the Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G is a model for those who value a camera, autonomy and a high-quality screen, but do not want to switch to large and heavy flagships. In terms of characteristics, the smartphone looks like a universal solution: it is able to cope with everyday tasks, multimedia, games and mobile photography with equal confidence.
