The Hunt for Cyberleek: Take-Two Takes Legal Action Against GTA 6 Leaks
24.08.26
Publisher Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have initiated an official legal investigation aimed at finding those responsible for publishing closed materials regarding the upcoming game GTA 6. The main target of the investigation is a group of hackers or an individual under the pseudonym Cyberleek, who regularly “leaks” gameplay fragments online.
The Hunt for Cyberleek: Legal Pressure
On August 20, corresponding lawsuits were filed with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. According to the requirements, Microsoft must provide internal records concerning the suspects’ activities by September 4. A similar request was sent to the administration of the messenger Discord, where, according to lawyers, the distribution of confidential data was coordinated.
Take-Two’s Demands
The publisher intends to obtain the broadest possible spectrum of data capable of helping to identify the perpetrators:
- Information on Discord servers used for the leaks.
- Unique account identifiers (IDs).
- Email addresses associated with the attackers’ profiles.
- IP addresses from which the most recent logins to the accounts were made.
- History of the transfer of copyrighted materials: videos, screenshots, art, dialogues, and other game assets.
Details of Recent GTA 6 Leaks
Despite all of Rockstar’s attempts to remove unwanted content from social networks, Cyberleek continues its activity. The group did not stop even after a short pause, recently publishing a two-minute clip demonstrating the character named Jason Duval moving in an expensive car through the streets of Vice City.
Release Date
The situation is heating up against the backdrop of preparations for a major presentation of the project on the Netflix platform. At the current moment, the official schedule remains unchanged: the full release of GTA 6 is planned for November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
