Garmin Releases Critical Firmware Update to Fix Display Glitches

Garmin continues to actively support its wearables, rolling out a fresh software update for several popular mid-range models. Following the recent release of firmware version 17.38, which focused on security enhancements, users have now received the stable version 17.39 update.

What’s New in Garmin v17.39

The primary focus of this new software version is the elimination of bugs affecting the device’s visual interface. Specifically, developers have addressed a critical bug that could cause erratic display behavior and incorrect gesture recognition.

It is worth noting that this release, 17.39, continues the series of stable v17.xx builds and is not part of the more advanced v18.xx beta branch, which remains in the testing phase.

How to Update Your Garmin to Version 17.39

Users can receive the update in two ways. First, it is distributed automatically via the Over-The-Air (OTA) system. If the firmware has not yet reached your watch, you can update the device manually:

• Go to the main menu of the device.
• Navigate to the “System” section.
• Select “Software Update.”
• Tap “Check for Updates.”
