In recent years, the video card market has been at greatly inflated prices compared to the recommended retail price. This was partly due to a shortage of components, partly, and in some places entirely, due to the mining boom. However, the cost of video cards has normalized over time and you can already try to find the best option.

We have already told you that according to Steam statistics, the last generation video card, RTX 3060, is most popular. But by the end of 2023, it turned out that the new generation was also gaining momentum. NVIDIA has already presented all versions and models of the generation of accelerators based on Ada Lovelace chips. Currently, the list of 4000-generation desktop video card models includes:

Therefore, NVIDIA had to differentiate the line so that buyers had a choice in each of the performance ranges.

Another interesting point is that each model has on average 25-30 options from different manufacturers. But the 4060 Ti, 4070 and 4070 Ti have 55-60 of them each. From this we can conclude which cards will continue to be in demand when the GeForce RTX 5000 series is released.

Characteristics of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti video card

The regular NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 received an AD107-400 graphics processor, with3072 CUDA coresand a frequency of2460 Hz. It is complemented by 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with an effective frequency of17,000 Hz, a 128-bit bus and a bandwidth of 272 GB/s.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is available in two memory versions: 8GB and 16GB.

The 8-GB version is based on the AD106-350-A1 graphics processor of the Ada Lovelace architecture. It includes: 4352 CUDA cores, 136 texture and 48 raster units, 34 RT cores of the third generation and 136 tensor cores of the 4th. All these units operate at a base frequency of 2310 MHz with a guaranteed boost up to 2535 MHz.

8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM communicate over a 128-bit bus at an effective speed of 18 Gbps, providing a throughput of only 288 GB/s. This is smoothed out by the L2 cache increased to 32 MB. The reference TDP does not exceed 160 W – and this is the most positive thing. But the connection to the system occurs only through 8 PCIe 4.0 lines.

The double video buffer of the 16 GB modification of the RTX 4060 Ti requires more power, so the TDP has increased to 165 W. The price for it is on average $100 more.

Characteristics of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 video card

The GeForce RTX 4070 is based on the NVIDIA AD104 crystal. A configuration with 5888 CUDA cores, 184 tensor cores, 46 RT cores and a 192-bit memory bus was used.

The GPU frequency ranges from1920 to 2475 MHz. The video buffer is 12 GB GDDR6X with an effective frequency of 21 GHz and a bandwidth of 504 GB / s. The standard TGP level is 200 W.

The gaming performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 video card generally corresponds to the level of the GeForce RTX 3080 10GB model.

Characteristics of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti video card

Originally RTX 4070 Tiwas introduced as RTX 4080 12 GB, but later a new name appeared.

The basis of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is the NVIDIA AD104 graphics processor in a configuration with 7680 CUDA cores, 240 tensor cores, 60 RT cores and a 192-bit memory bus. The nominal frequency of the GPU boost mode is 2610 MHz. The video buffer is 12 GB GDDR6X with a bandwidth of 504 GB/s. The TGP (Total Graphics Power) level is 285 W, and a 12VHPWR connector is soldered at the end.

For reference, if you compare the new RTX 4070 Super with the regular RTX 4070, it has 22% more CUDA cores (which is only 7% less than the RTX 4070 Ti). The number of transistors also increased by 28%. In terms of L2 cache capacity, the video adapter is equal to the more expensive RTX 4070 Ti.

Best NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti

ASUS PROART-RTX4060TI-O16G and MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM WHITE 16G (912-V517-012) video cards have three-fan cooling systems and 16 GB of video memory. The boost frequencies are also the same at 2685 MHz. With an average price of 21-22 thousand UAH, they can be called the best choice of the RTX 4060 Ti. The cards received 3 DisplayPort 1.4a connectors and one HDMI 2.1a connector.

The ASUS TUF-RTX4060ti-O8G-GAMING model has a slightly lower boost frequency and is 2655 MHz. But the main thing is that it has 8, not 16 GB GDDR6. It can be found for 20,000 UAH, which is only slightly less and not worth the savings.

Best NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti WINDFORCE OC 12G (GV-N407TWF3OC-12GD) looks like another classic option with a massive radiator and three coolers on it. It has a boost frequency of 2625 MHz and a price of 36-37 thousand UAH.

But a much more interesting option could be the GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB XTREME WATERFORCE WB (GV-N407TAORUSX WB-12GD). This 4070 is equipped with a liquid cooling system, so the system is not only efficient, but also quiet. The boost frequency is 2700 MHz.

Both models have 12 GB of GDDR6X12 memory, memory frequency is 21000 MHz. Their connectors include: one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4.
