Spotify on PC will get Miniplayer
27.03.24
Spotify introduces Miniplayer for PC users, offering them the ability to instantly control music playback without having to open the main application window.
The Spotify miniplayer is a pop-up window with audio controls such as changing tracks, selecting playlists and adjusting volume. This feature is already available to users with a paid subscription and can be activated by clicking on the square in the lower right corner of the app.
The introduction of this new feature potentially reduces the need for third-party applications such as Alfred Spotify Mini Player, Lofi Spotify Mini Player and SpotMenu. These apps were created to fill a gap in Spotify’s functionality that some users felt was significant.
It should be noted that the competing Apple Music service has already offered an equivalent MiniPlayer for macOS and Windows operating systems for a long time. And finally, Spotify has decided to meet the needs of its users with this functionality.
Currently, the mini player is only available to Premium subscribers, but Spotify may consider expanding this functionality to other users in the future.
