Minesalt online game based on Minecraft. It reproduces city Soledar and biggest salt mines in the world

The Minesalt project is a combination of a gaming platform and a charity initiative aimed at drawing attention to the events in Ukraine and raising funds for post-war reconstruction. The creation of such a game emphasizes the growing role of video games as a means of raising awareness of current social and humanitarian issues.

In the game, players immerse themselves in a virtual space that recreates the largest salt mining site in Europe, located in Soledar, Donetsk region of Ukraine. Gameplay involves exploring 16 locations and 500 kilometers of tunnels in search of 140 salt crystals. This mission aims not only to provide players with an immersive experience, but also to tell the story of the importance of the Soledar Mines and their role in the history and economy of the region.

In addition to the gameplay, Minesalt serves as a platform for raising funds for the reconstruction of the Veliko Kostroma Gymnasium, which was destroyed as a result of the war. The fundraising goal is $1,150,000. The project draws attention to the situation in Ukraine by using the popularity of video games to mobilize support and help the affected population.

UNITED24 ambassadors also participate in the game, including famous people from various walks of life, such as Richard Branson, Paul Nurse, Misha Collins, Oleksandr Usyk, Scott Kelly, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Catherine Vinnyk and Ivanna Sakhno. This gives the project additional visibility and helps draw attention to its goals.

The history of Soledar and its role as a front-line fortress during a full-scale invasion underscores both the city’s strategic importance and the humanitarian consequences of the conflict. Minesalt is an attempt to use the power of video games to tell the story of these events, mobilize support and help those affected by war.
