Big Attack Index update: flexible report, more indicators and prognoses
26.08.23
For Independence Day, Index Systems specialists announced a large-scale update of the attackindex.com monitoring and automated detection of information threats and resonance service. The request form has become more ergonomic, the layout of report parts can now be changed, and forecasting of the information situation has become available for all requests.
While working with the service, users noted that they often work with certain parts of the report. For example, the information operations section was popular, demonstrating processes that analysts and public affairs managers might not be aware of.
The interface design was rethought and developed, which provided the ability to quickly jump to any part of the report. All sections are presented in the form of puzzles. If desired, you can drag them with the mouse and arrange them to your liking. For example, move parts of the report that are accessed more often to the beginning.
“The concept of puzzles has appeared, a kind of grid of report parts, providing a compact view of sections and quick transition to each of them. Also each part received more information. — comments Ellina Shnurko-Tabakova, information security expert, chairman of the Information Security and Cyber Defense Council and project leader attackindex.com. — An ergonomic graphic solution has been implemented accordingly.”.
As the company emphasizes, in 2022-2023 the number of monitoring sources increased by 45%, including due to the number of telegram channels – by 50%, sources in Ukraine and the Russian Federation – up to 20%. In addition, indicators for analyzing the information situation were added, and to the eight sections that were previously available, four more were added, which made it possible to more broadly characterize the information activity associated with the request.
The service allows you to determine whether an information attack is underway or whether there has been a surge of interest in the event, which public speakers are involved, what emotions in relation to the requested topic, persons, companies or events they convey to the public, who initiated the information operation and how its participants are connected. If an information operation is detected, you can find out how intense and large-scale it is, and what sites or social media accounts are involved. A new characteristic was the mathematical forecasting of the further development of the information situation using four methods.
During its existence since 2018, the analytical and monitoring service Attack Index (attackindex.com) has developed both in the direction of expanding the monitoring base by connecting new websites or other information dissemination channels (for example, Telegram), and by adding new analytical functions. including mathematical methods for predicting the development of the information situation. And today’s innovations are also the result of continued scientific work, experience in preparing analytical reports for clients and regular feedback and consultations with system users.
“The attackindex.com service was created by a team consisting of representatives of technical and computer sciences, applied mathematics, media, sociology, IT and information security. That is why all modern scientific achievements, primarily our own, are quickly implemented in the Atak Index service. Permanent scientific work carried out by team members is usually turned into working models with phased implementation in an automated report.notes Professor Dmitry Lande, scientific director of the Attack Index service, head of the department of information security of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Physics and Technology of NTU KPI, Doctor of Technical Sciences —In fact, all sections are the result of the application of classical and specific sections of linguistics and mathematics.
Today, the attackindex.com service is used by commercial companies, military structures, and international and Ukrainian organizations. The tasks solved by the service are recording and tracking information processes, creating a system of analytical indicators, determining the stability of information situations and predicting their development. The automated Attack Index report saves time and increases the efficiency of analysts, in particular, in generating data on countering propaganda and information aggression of the Russian Federation.
