Beelink i68 media player with 8-core processor on Android
06.07.15
Interestingly, the RK3368 processor was officially introduced by Rockchip only in June. Its main feature is precisely its use in media players, to which the Beelink i68 under consideration belongs. The processor consists of eight Cortex-A53 pieces with an operating frequency of 1.5 GHz. The graphics accelerator here is the PowerVR G6110 model. It supports the classic H.264 codec and the increasingly popular H.265 codec. Also, this makes it possible to play videos in 4K resolution. For this purpose, among the interfaces there is HDMI 2.0.
The media player has 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory as an eMMC module. For expansion, which will be needed due to the good capabilities of the device, there is a slot for MicroSD memory cards. The maximum supported volume is 64 GB.
Also, Beelink i68 can be connected to a home network via Wi-Fi, but it is worth considering that the width may not be enough to pull up high-resolution video. This applies if you play it from a network storage device or web resource. But the network module for a wired connection is quite enough to work with large files. The media player has one installed with an operating speed of 100 Mbit/s. To connect peripherals, such as a mouse and keyboard, there is a Bluetooth 4.0 module.
The rear wall also has an HDMI 2.0 interface, two USB 2.0 ports and S/PDIF for outputting a digital audio signal. The third USB port is on the side, near the MicroSD card reader. It is noteworthy that there is also MicroUSB for connecting smartphones and tablets with OTG ports. This way, you can move files from mobile devices to the media player.
The Beelink i68 set-top box runs the Android 5.1 operating system with the KODI multimedia shell. Therefore, you get not only a powerful TV set-top box, but also a full-fledged system with Android applications. The dimensions of the device are 120 x 120 x 240 mm, and the weight is 640 g, which is acceptable for more or less stationary multimedia devices. Usually they save money on this, but in addition to the standard remote control, the kit includes an HDMI cable. You can already buy a media player on Android for $81, for example, in the GearBest store.
