Samsung to Launch Five Foldable Smartphones in 2027

The New Generation of Samsung Foldables

The launch success of the Galaxy Z Fold8 was so significant that Samsung has already increased its production plan for the current year by 1 million units. However, the company is not stopping there: according to sources, five new foldables under the Galaxy Z9 umbrella will arrive next year.

Galaxy Z9 Lineup: Five Key Additions

According to insider information, the future ecosystem of foldable gadgets will consist of the following models:

  • Wide Galaxy Z Fold9
  • Second wide-format foldable smartphone
  • Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Flip9
  • New Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone

Despite concerns about a possible series cancellation, Samsung will continue to release Z Flip9 clamshells. At the same time, the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip FE project has been officially scrapped, presumably due to low demand or rising memory component costs.

Evolution of the Fold Form Factor

To date, Samsung segments its foldable devices by screen format. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is considered “wide” due to its 4:3 internal display aspect ratio (2,448 x 1,848 resolution). Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a nearly square screen with an aspect ratio of approximately 9:10.

The company is planning to release a second wide-format model optimized specifically for video content. Modern TV standards (16:9) and cinematic formats (21:9) look better on elongated screens where black bars (letterboxing) are less noticeable. The project is currently in the conceptual development stage.

The Future of the Galaxy Z TriFold

Samsung is returning to the development of a tri-fold smartphone. The previous version was merely an experimental device with a limited release. The next-generation model is expected to see a broader commercial launch, though experts do not predict a decrease in the device’s price tag.

Opinion

Expanding the lineup to five models signals Samsung’s attempt to capture every market segment: from devices designed for reading and document work (4:3) to multimedia-focused solutions. While the devices are in active development and no official release dates or pricing are available, the company’s strategy is clearly shifting toward a greater variety of form factors.
