Acer Nitro V 17 ANV17-41 gaming laptop review
21.10.25
The Acer Nitro V 17 ANV17-41 is a member of the 17-inch Nitro line. There are also one other 14-, 15-, and 18-inch versions, and four models of the most popular 16-inch size are available.
Laptops with 17- and 18-inch screens are considered more expensive, but the Nitro V 17 ANV17-41 strikes a balance, offering minor compromises while still boasting a sizable screen. While you might not get the best frame rates in games, it’s more than adequate for medium-high settings, as well as work and content editing.
Design and Ergonomics

The Acer Nitro V 17 ANV17-41 looks like the perfect combination of a gaming laptop for both work and play. It features a matte black plastic case. The lid is completely smooth and adorned only with the Nitro logo. The base panel is pierced with ventilation holes.

The coolers are additionally illuminated, making their location clearly visible. The foot risers are quite tall. The underbody panel features the most design elements, from the Nitro logo to the inscription stating “Victory Starts Here.”

Opening the lid reveals a couple more gaming attributes: the N logo below the screen and the same molding on the lower right. There’s a notch around the keyboard to reduce the angle of your arms over the desk. The keyboard backlighting is orange only, and its brightness is adjustable across four levels.

The keyboard layout is familiar, without any particular flaws or excesses. Overall, all the keys are of comparable size. That is, the letters and the Shift keys, for example, aren’t dramatically different. The same can’t be said for the Copilot key, which is the same size as the Shift keys and replaces the right Ctrl. Also noteworthy is the power button, which is located in one area of the keyboard and is indistinguishable from the other keys, both in feel and design. WASD, for example, has a partially filled top edge and is visible from a distance. The N key in the NumPad area launches the proprietary NitroSense software. Its icon is also located next to the system settings, which are accessed from the quick access panel in the lower right. However, the performance mode switch key, as usual, has a separate key.
It’s well-equipped with ports, and it’s worth noting that several of them are located on the back. This not only frees up space on the sides near your hands, but also allows for a more compact layout of your devices on the desk.

Looking at the laptop, on the left are a lock slot, a network port, a USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, a MicroSD reader, and hybrid audio. On the right are two more USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, the one closest to it supports power transfer when powered off. At the back is a USB 4 port with a 40 Gbps data transfer rate via a USB Type-C interface, as well as HDMI 2.1 and a power connector.

It’s worth noting that there are multiple microphone arrays. In addition to the two expected near the webcam above the screen, there’s another one on the front edge of the bottom of the case. This hints at the model’s versatility. Various AI add-ons are available to improve the quality of real-time online communication, such as Purified Voice, which uses three microphones in the new version. This means the laptop will handle online game streams and work meetings even better.
Hardware
Our laptop version features a 17.3″ IPS display with a matte finish. This is another plus for its versatility. The resolution is 2560×1440 at 165 Hz.
It features a Ryzen AI 7 260 processor for the FP8 socket, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads. Its base frequency is 3800 MHz. Thanks to Turbo Core technology, it can be overclocked to 5100 MHz. The chip has integrated Radeon 780M graphics and a 16 MB L3 cache.

The “AI” prefix is stated to denote the use of an additional chip for artificial intelligence processes, which can improve performance and efficiency in certain tasks. Specifically, Acer is talking about audio and video processing during online chats using the PurifiedView and PurifiedVoice algorithms. These algorithms handle effects, background changes, and voice processing. For example, during a broadcast, the camera can crop images to focus on the speaker’s portrait.
Our model is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card, built on the new Blackwell architecture. The graphics chip is manufactured using a 4 nm process technology. It also includes 8 GB of GDDR7 memory with an operating frequency of 2155 Hz. The manufacturer has specified a rather modest TGP of 85 watts out of 100 watts for this accelerator. Among the features of the GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards, it is worth noting support for Nvidia DLSS 4 technology, PCI Express 5.0 interfaces, DisplayPort 2.1b and HDMI 2.1a.
The model comes with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5600 MHz from Samsung. What’s unusual is that it has two SSDs, both 1 TB each. These are PCIe 4.0×4 solid-state drives from WD. If we were the buyer, we’d add another 16 GB of RAM to get a truly decent configuration for multimedia work.
The battery provides nearly 10 hours of battery life in maximum power saving mode and basic tasks. However, under higher loads and with the display backlight turned up, it lasts for 4-5 hours.
Impressions
The Acer Nitro V 17 ANV17-41 is an interesting model with a large display and good performance. Its high refresh rate and matte screen finish are especially noteworthy. The processor and graphics card are suitable for playing modern games and editing content. The device’s versatility is emphasized by its modest design by gaming device standards. However, it does have some striking accents, such as the orange backlit keyboard.
