Acer Aspire Go 15 will be the first laptop on the Snapdragon C platform

Windows laptops for $300: Qualcomm Neo

While the premium segment of portable computers is conducting a technological war of AI functions, the Qualcomm company decided to shake up the market of ultra-budget devices. As a response to rumors about the ultra-budget Apple MacBook Neo, the manufacturer has introduced energy-efficient Snapdragon C processors for cheap Windows laptops, the price of which will start at just $300.

 Qualcomm Snapdragon C

The new Snapdragon C (short for Compute) is designed specifically for the budget PC segment. These processors are built on the Kryo mobile architecture, redesigned and optimized for desktop tasks. According to the chipmaker, the chips are aimed at basic scenarios of use by schoolchildren, students, in the family circle or for small business tasks.

The main feature of the platform is a high level of energy efficiency with low heat generation. This will make it possible to produce ultra-thin and quiet laptops with completely passive (fanless) cooling. Despite the modest price, Snapdragon C will receive a built-in neural processor (NPU) for the hardware operation of artificial intelligence at the local level. At the same time, processors do not support the official Copilot+ PC category.

From theory to practice

The budget model Acer Aspire Go 15 was the first announced device with new processors.

The manufacturer revealed the main technical characteristics of the upcoming novelty, which offers large hardware equipment at its own expense.

Technical specifications of the Acer Aspire Go 15 laptop

Characteristics of AI chips and important nuances

An interesting feature of the Acer Aspire Go 15 laptop was the addition of a dedicated Copilot AI assistant key right in the keyboard layout. The company took this step despite the formal lack of Snapdragon C hardware status Copilot+ PC. However, the built-in neuroprocessor in the new Kryo architecture will be enough for stable execution of most basic local intelligent algorithms among Windows 11.

Release date and price

Qualcomm has officially promised to release Snapdragon C-powered laptops on store shelves this year. As for the specific dates of the start of sales of Acer Aspire Go 15, the company has not yet announced the exact dates, referring to the global release plans of Qualcomm platforms.

The main argument of the novelty is its ultra-budget price tag. Acer has officially confirmed that the base price of the Aspire Go 15 will be only $300. Other inexpensive solutions being prepared, for example, the first ultrabooks with energy-efficient Intel Wildcat Lake chips, will be in a higher price range — their cost starts at $450.

Is it worth buying a device with a Snapdragon C processor?

A Snapdragon C laptop, such as the Acer Aspire Go 15, is ideal for those who are looking for a functional and at the same time the most budget-friendly “workhorse” for $300. The device provides autonomy for a whole working or educational day, does not overheat under moderate loads and has a modern disk subsystem of 512 GB combined with 8 GB of RAM. At the same time, it is worth understanding the limitations of the platform: the redesigned Kryo architecture is designed for quiet everyday office tasks, text processing, studying, media playback and web surfing, but it will not be suitable for heavy video games or professional resource-intensive software.
