WhatsApp Web has become a full-fledged replacement of the application thanks to calls

WhatsApp continues to close the gap between the web version and the mobile app.  The developers of WhatsApp have taken a significant step forward by allowing users to make both personal and group audio and video calls directly from the browser. Now there is no need to install a separate desktop application for comfortable communication.

What’s new in WhatsApp Web?

The update significantly expands the capabilities of the web version of the messenger. The following became available to users:

• Making voice and video calls without duration restrictions.
• Full support for end-to-end encryption to protect conversations.
• Screen demonstration during calls.
• Using reactions.
• Special tab for convenient access to call history and list of selected contacts.

Cross-platform

One of the key features of the update was session management flexibility. You can start a group call on your smartphone or tablet and then transfer it seamlessly to WhatsApp Web or the desktop app. At the same time, there is no need to end the current conversation or call back the interlocutors – the switching process is instantaneous.

Control functions

Meta has added new tools to improve the quality of communication and group management:

• Waiting room: pre-approval of participants is available for group calls via the link. If the organizer has enabled mandatory confirmation, the participant will not be able to enter the chat without their permission.
• QuickHD: the new function provides high-quality video streaming immediately after the start of the communication session.
• Noise reduction: algorithms effectively remove background noise, while the sensitivity and status of the function can be controlled directly in the settings menu of the call itself.

Features

The update makes WhatsApp Web a complete communication platform, eliminating the need for users to install a separate application on their PC. If the function has not yet appeared in your account, you should wait a little – the company introduces the innovation in stages.
