The Armed Forces of Ukraine will have a new type of troops – unmanned systems forces

President Vladimir Zelensky signed decree No. 51/2024, providing for the creation of a new type of troops within the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the Unmanned Systems Forces.
The decree calls on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to develop the issue of creating such forces and to submit appropriate proposals for consideration by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
In an evening video message, Zelensky said that this decree should contribute to the speedy achievement of concrete results.
The move may reflect the growing importance and interest in the development of military technology, in particular the Ukrainian army’s unmanned systems.
The President named the following tasks for the army, the Ministry of Defense and the government:
- create special staff positions for working with drones, special units
- develop an effective training system
- systematize the experience gained
- constantly expand production and attract the best ideas and specialists in this field.
