More R&D: Tecno and Sony present new image processing technology Tecno PolarAce
01.03.24
At MWC 2024, the Tecno brand introduced a new imaging technology called Tecno PolarAce. This technology will be available in theTecno Camon 30 Premier 5Gsmartphone, expected in the second quarter of 2024.
What’s inside?
Tecno PolarAce uses Sony CXD5622GG floating point image processor and Sony Lytia image sensors. It also includes Tecno Universal Tone skin tone imaging technology and Tecno’s latest AI imaging technologies.
The Sony CXD5622GG processor performs artificial noise reduction and image quality optimization on every frame of video, ensuring fast-moving clarity, contrast, accurate color restoration and improved video quality even in low-light conditions. With floating point support, the processor achieves 4.6 teraflops of FP16 performance.
The development of Tecno PolarAce was achieved through collaboration with Sony Lytia, whose CMOS sensors were created specifically to improve mobile shooting capabilities.
Functions with new algorithms
Tecno PolarAce is introducing a new technology called Tecno Universal Tone, which uses AI-powered mobile image processing to enhance skin texture, color and other features of different nationalities around the world. To improve this technology, color scientists from various universities around the world were involved, and the newly collected and analyzed data was integrated into the Universal Tone artificial intelligence system.
Tecno PolarAce is also enriched with functions based on artificial intelligence. The built-in AIGC (AI Generated-Content) portrait module allows you to generate images in any setting without the need to download third-party applications. And Tecno’s AI One Click Erase feature allows you to remove unwanted objects from your photos in one click. The Tecno PolarAce imaging system will be available in the Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G smartphone, which is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2024.
The first smartphone with new features

The Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G smartphone features a periscopic telephoto lens with a 70mm equivalent focal length and a 60x hybrid zoom that captures natural light and shadows without blurring or cropping, and also reduces noise when shooting at night. The smartphone is built on an eight-core MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate 5G processor with Arm Mali-G610 MC6 and Imagiq 785 AI graphics accelerators. The 1.5K LTPO screen with a peak brightness of 1400 cd/m² is the most advanced in the Camon series, delivering millions of colors.
