Tamagotchi Ring: Bandai’s Smallest Virtual Pet Ever

Bandai has introduced the Tamagotchi Ring, the most compact version of the iconic virtual pet in the brand’s history. The new device commemorates the 30th anniversary of the series and introduces a unique wearable form factor.

What Is the Tamagotchi Ring and What Are Its Features?

the device retains the recognizable “egg” design that has become a classic. A color LCD screen is located on the front panel. A key control detail: the three buttons under the screen are decorative, while actual interaction with the pet is performed via buttons on the left and right side edges of the case.

Specifications and Compactness

The gadget’s dimensions are striking: at just 28 millimeters tall, it is nearly half the size of a standard Tamagotchi and approximately 60% more compact than the first color model released in 2008. The device required two years of development and consists of 52 electronic components and twelve plastic housing parts.

Instead of standard replaceable batteries, which could not fit in such a small volume, a built-in battery is used. A special charging case is included. The Tamagotchi Ring is available in silver, gold, and a “pearly gradient” finish. The developers provided two sizes: the base fit is designed for a Japanese ring size 14 (approximately equivalent to a US size 7), and with a special adapter, the ring fits a size 10 (about US 5.5).

The device’s memory contains 30 of the most popular virtual pets in the franchise’s history.

Release Date and Pricing

Currently, the Tamagotchi Ring is available for purchase in Japan for 7,700 yen ($48, or approximately €45 / 1,968 UAH). At the moment, Bandai has not confirmed plans for an international release, though third-party services like Meccha Japan are offering the device for pre-order with international shipping for about $82 (approximately €77 / 3,365 UAH). Shipments are scheduled to begin in February 2027.
