Mobile OS Market Share: Android, iOS, and Harmony OS Performance in Q2 2026

The report from Counterpoint Research (CR), covering the second quarter of this year (April through June), provides a detailed look at the mobile operating system market. These statistics are based on the number of devices shipped during the period, rather than the total number of gadgets in active use.

Globally, Android remains the undisputed leader, growing its share to 75% from 73% in the first quarter. iOS figures dipped to 20% compared to 22% at the start of the year. Huawei’s HarmonyOS rounds out the top three, holding a stable 5% share, consistent with the previous period’s results.

US Market: The iOS and Android Rivalry

In the United States, Apple maintains the lead with a 51% share. However, Android continues to push forward, holding 49% of the market. It is worth noting that the peak for iOS was the fourth quarter of 2025, when it controlled 69% of the American market.

China: The Rise of HarmonyOS

The Chinese market presents a unique picture: Android remains in first place with a 58% share (down from 63% in Q1). HarmonyOS holds the second position, growing its share from 19% to 24%. Apple’s iOS is in third place, showing slight growth from 17% to 18%.

India: Absolute Android Dominance

Competition in India is limited: Android is effectively a monopoly with a 91% share (up from 90% in Q1). Apple’s share declined to 9% compared to 10% in the first quarter.

Industry Trends and Status

According to CR data, total global smartphone shipments declined by 11% compared to the same period last year. The primary decline was recorded in the budget and mid-range device segments, which is most noticeable in emerging markets.
