Casio Edifice EFS-S660 Solar Chronographs Land in Europe for €199

Хронографи Casio Edifice EFS-S660: огляд нових версій для європейського ринку

What Are the Casio Edifice EFS-S660 Watches

Casio is expanding the availability of its Edifice EFS-S660 chronograph series. Previously released earlier this month, the watches have appeared on official regional Casio websites in the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain. The devices are already listed in catalogs, though at the time of writing, direct purchasing is not yet available—instead of a buy button, the pages display a stock notification.

European models have received updated part numbers: while the EFS-S660D-1AJF and EFS-S660PB-1AJF are sold in Japan, they are designated as EFS-S660D-1A and EFS-S660PB-1A in Europe, respectively.

Technical Specifications

All models share identical internal components and a reinforced case. Here are the key parameters:

  • Case dimensions: 45.3 × 38.3 × 11.6 mm.
  • Crystal: Sapphire with an internal anti-reflective coating.
  • Water resistance: up to 100 meters.
  • Movement: Casio caliber 5334 (accuracy ±20 seconds per month).
  • Power source: Tough Solar technology (solar charging).
  • Chronograph functions: 1/20-second stopwatch measuring elapsed time and split time (up to 60 minutes).

Pricing and Availability

The official price for all European markets (Netherlands, Germany, Spain) is set at €199. Analyzing the price including taxes (19% VAT in Germany and 21% in the Netherlands and Spain), the “net” cost of the watches is approximately €164–167, which is comparable to the prices in the Japanese market after excluding the 10% consumption tax (around 30,000 yen or $188).

At this time, a specific retail release date for Europe has not been announced.

Model Differences and Features

Despite sharing the same movement, the versions differ in design and weight:

  • EFS-S660D-1A: Stainless steel case and bracelet. The watch features blue accents on the chronograph hands. The weight of this model is 129 grams.
  • EFS-S660PB-1A: A sportier variant with a resin strap, a gray ion-plated (IP) case, and a black IP bezel. Red accents on the hands emphasize the design. The weight of this version is reduced to 71 grams.

An important detail is the inclusion of Toyota Racing branding exclusively on the EFS-S660PB-1A version, which is the result of a partnership announced by Casio in January.

Thoughts on the Casio Edifice

The EFS-S660 is a well-balanced offering for sports style enthusiasts. While these are not smartwatches in the traditional sense, the sapphire crystal, Tough Solar charging system, and high-precision chronograph make them practical everyday accessories. The choice between the “steel” D-1A and the “racing” PB-1A depends on personal comfort preferences: if weight is a critical factor for you, the lightweight model with the resin strap is the preferred option.
