OpenAI has expanded the capabilities of the free version of ChatGPT by providing users access to the scheduled tasks feature. Now, you can assign the AI to perform recurring actions and send reminders for important events without needing a paid subscription.

• Advanced automation triggered by events in Gmail, Slack, or GitHub remains exclusive to paid plan subscribers (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise).

Availability

The scheduled tasks feature was originally introduced in June 2026 for premium account holders. In the free version, these planning tools are available in both the web interface and the mobile app via a dedicated section on the sidebar.
