Tesla Cybertruck Prices Hike Again as Artificial Hype Continues
26.08.26
Tesla has raised the prices for the Cybertruck for the second time in the last six months. This time, the change occurred without any official warning, with configuration costs increasing by $5,000.
A History of Price Manipulation
On February 19, Tesla introduced the more affordable Dual Motor AWD version with a fabric interior for $59,990 (€54,500 / 2,460,000 UAH). Elon Musk emphasized at the time that the offer would only be valid for 10 days. This marketing tactic generated massive interest: delivery timelines began shifting from June to September, and for some buyers, even into 2027. Many experts viewed this tactic as “artificial urgency,” given that production capacity is only a fraction of what was originally planned.
By March 1, the price had already increased by $10,000 to $69,990 (€63,500 / 2,870,000 UAH). Five months later, the situation repeated itself.
New Tesla Cybertruck Pricing
The latest configurator update brings the following cost changes:
- Dual Motor AWD: from $69,990 (€63,500 / 2,870,000 UAH) to $74,990 (€68,050 / 3,075,000 UAH).
- Premium AWD: from $79,990 (€72,600 / 3,280,000 UAH) to $84,990 (€77,150 / 3,485,000 UAH).
- Cyberbeast: the price remains unchanged at $99,990 (€90,700 / 4,100,000 UAH), preventing the model from crossing the $100,000 psychological barrier.
Production Realities and Reasons for the Hike
Currently, Cybertruck assembly lines are running at only 10% of their projected capacity. Since the cost of producing each unit is high, margins have become a priority for Tesla. The company actively uses a supply-restriction tactic to “heat up” waitlists, after which it raises prices, citing high demand.
According to Q2 2026 reports, Tesla reached record delivery figures and posted revenue growth for the first time in a while. However, operating profit dropped significantly due to massive spending on AI infrastructure. Raising prices on the slow-selling Cybertruck allows the company to partially offset this financial pressure.
There is active speculation regarding a potential SUV based on the Cybertruck. Elon Musk has hinted at creating a family vehicle that will be “cooler than a minivan.” Should such a vehicle enter mass production, it is highly likely that Tesla will employ the same strategy: high-expectation promises and price manipulation at the beginning of the model’s lifecycle.
