Exodus Release Date Confirmed

Science Fiction RPG Exodus: release date, trailer with a new companion and connections to Mass Effect

Developers from Archetype Entertainment officially announced the release date for their ambitious project, Exodus, during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 event.

Exodus: A First Look

Exodus takes players on an epic interstellar journey. At the center of the narrative is a hero named June, whose team is searching for a new home for humanity after leaving Earth. A key feature of the game world is the concept of time dilation: due to relativistic effects, those traveling at high speeds and those remaining in other systems experience time differently, which will inevitably impact the story.

Meet Solt: The Sentient Octopus Sniper

A new cinematic trailer introduced one of the hero’s key companions—an octopus named Solt. She belongs to the Awakened race—animals that have gained high intelligence and the ability to communicate. Solt is a sniper with a conflicted personality, capable of using ink to create smoke screens. Interacting with such companions will allow players not only to develop squad relationships but also to navigate the complex moral dilemmas of the Exodus universe.

Gameplay and Mass Effect Connections

Drew Karpyshyn, known as the lead writer for the legendary Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, is working on the script for Exodus. The resemblance to the BioWare classic is evident in the combat system, which is a hybrid of a third-person shooter and tactical squad ability management. Player choices will have global consequences, affecting the fate of the world and the team. Previously, the studio showcased a 20-minute gameplay trailer confirming this RPG focus.

Release Date and Availability

Platforms for the release have been confirmed. The game will be available on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • Personal Computers (PC)

The release is scheduled for April 7, 2027.

Exodus aims to be more than just another sci-fi RPG; it is a massive journey where every battle and decision carries consequences for generations to come. The unusual time concept, memorable companions like Solt, and an author with experience on Mass Effect create an intriguing mix of cosmic epic and personal drama. If Archetype Entertainment can truly deliver on the promised scale and depth of choice, Exodus has every chance of providing players with the kind of story that keeps them immersed for dozens of hours and stays in their minds long after.
