How to unlock Smart-Hub on 2018-2019 Samsung smart TV with the error “This TV does not fully work in this region”

This year, Samsung held a new campaign to deactivate illegally imported TVs. In Ukraine, Moldova, Russia and other countries, since February 22, Samsung TVs display the message “This TV is not fully functional in this region” when starting any program in Smart-Hub . This applies to YouTube, Netflix, Megogo and any other services presented by the applications.

The message appears for all 2015-2017 and 2018-2019 Samsung TV models. This is not the first time that the company has tried to fight against gray imports. To unlock the smart functions of the Samsung TV, you will need a regular (button) remote control, a laptop or a desktop with Wi-Fi and a wired connection to the Internet via Ethernet (both are important).

1. on the TV, press the buttons on the remote control “Mute”, “1”, “1”, “9”, “OK”.
2. in the menu with the first item “Hospitality mode” press “1”, “2”, “3”, “4” on the remote control
3. in the new menu set to Local Set – “EU_RS_AFR”
4. go to the “MRT option” menu item, set the following values in it:
5. Language Set – CIS
6. Region – PANEURO
7. PnP language – Rus
8. Wi-Fi region – Q
9. exit “MRT Option”
10. do a factory reset through the first point

After that, on a computer with a wired connection (this is important), install VPN from Tunnel Bear (the service is provided for free for 24 hours).

• In the Tunnel Bear application, select the server of the country in Europe for which the TV was made (you can find this out by marking the model).
• A clear match by country is not necessary;
• We install the Connectify application (the service also provides a day for free);
• We create a Connectifi-wifi access point and specify the Tunnel Bear Internet source in it
• Turn on the TV
• We click everything to connect to the Wi-Fi network, select the Connectify-wifi network
• A window with the SmartHub agreement should appear immediately after that. If it is there and you need to give the agreement with two ticks, then everything worked out. Otherwise, the TV will warn immediately during the initial setup that the Smart Hub is blocked by location.

This excludes the ability of the manufacturer to guarantee the availability of all functions in the user’s country of residence and the actual region of use of the device. Information that the availability of functions depends on the region of supply is indicated in the user manual. The company recommends buying products only from official retailers in the region, in order to be able to use all the functions of the device, as well as the support of the manufacturer,” commented the Samsung company.
