Electric humanoid robot Tiangong became the fastest running in the world
05.05.24The innovative humanoid robot Tiangong was presented in Beijing, which became the world’s first fully electric robot capable of reaching speeds of up to 6 km/h. The robot was developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and is 163 cm tall and weighs 43 kg. Thanks to its lightweight design, Tiangong can run stably.
The robot is equipped with a variety of visual sensors, a high-precision inertial measurement unit (IMU) and 3D video sensors, which allows it to effectively navigate in space. High-precision six-dimensional force sensors are used for accurate force feedback.
Tiangong uses an innovative movement learning method called State Memory-based Predictive Reinforcement Imitation Learning, which played an important role in developing the robot’s ability to run naturally.
The developers also emphasize that Tiangong is open source and compatible, which expands its potential use cases. The robot demonstrated its ability to navigate slopes and stairs even without visual input, as well as its ability to adapt to changing conditions and adjust its stride when encountering obstacles or uneven terrain.
Let us remind you that Boston Dynamics also switched to electric motors, which has equipped its updated Atlas robot with them.
