Bloody GPW70 controller review: bright
12.02.24
The Bloody brand, owned by A4Tech, has many variations of gaming peripherals in its portfolio. Mice, keyboards, headphones, gaming surfaces – for every taste and are updated with dozens of models every year. Either it was a coincidence, or the company knows some kind of insider, but game controllers and devices with them are popular again this year. We recently talked about the released portable gaming console ASUS Ally, which was announced by MSI. At the same time, Bloody released their own line of controllers. Today we will talk about the top model, which has absorbed all the features and capabilities of this segment.
What is Bloody GPW70
In light of the fact that in general controllers are used with consoles – from Sony or Microsoft, their models are accordingly divided into those suitable for PlayStation and / or Xbox. But universal models are already mostly focused on the X-box, because there are many Windows systems and this is another huge segment of users who may need such controllers.
Bloody has all three models (GPW30, GPW50 and GPW70) of its gamepads offered in the Xbox controller design. They differ in some exterior features, types of connection and equipment, such as backlighting and vibration response. The Bloody GPW70 model is a top-end solution that has it all.
Design
The main buttons and joysticks are located normally. The amount of space on the body of the original controllers allows manufacturers to experiment with its elements, sometimes even inserting a screen.
Bloody GPW70 also has a classic boomerang shape with comfortable handles with a perforated surface. The controller fits well in the hand and does not slip away even with sweaty palms.
The controller body is made of plastic, but it has different textures in different parts. The handles, as already noted, have a grippy surface. In black this is ok, but in white the dirt will probably start to get into this mesh.
Buttons and ergonomics
The D-Pad, triggers and red chickens are glossy. This is neither good nor bad, unless you are a professional gamepad player and such a surface will not be “accurate” enough.
There are all the usual elements: two joysticks, D-Pad, “X, Y, B, A”, “On/Off” keys. front; triggers and chickens on top; two buttons on the back. There are six more additional buttons. All of them are signed and have the names Turbo, Clear, Back, Start, LED. The functionality of some is clear, the rest are explained in the instructions. There are also a dozen combinations.
The Turbo and Clear buttons have three levels of response speed adjustment, which can be convenient when using the gadget in shooters.
LT/RT triggers use Hall sensors – this makes control with their help smoother.
There is also a USB Type-C connector on top for charging, and analog audio on the bottom between the handles.
The joysticks are backlit, which is synchronized with the LED strip in the middle. Animation and color can be customized using combinations of button presses. For which special respect from us is the backlighting of the “X, Y, B, A” buttons. In some controllers they don’t have it. Of course, those who have been playing with controllers for years have been crushing them blindly for a long time. Thanks to the backlight, it was much more convenient for us to go through mini-games in action games, where we need to quickly press them in different sequences. We are already silent about pressing sequences for “babality” and “fatality” in Mortal Kombat.
The power button with the company logo and four service LEDs in the middle also light up. There are some questions about the intuitiveness of the latter, because they remind us of traffic lights for trams. In addition to the fact that the LEDs show the charge level, they also signal the connection mode and support of various commands.
The receiver for wireless connection turned out to be large in size. It has the size of a healthy flash drive and even has a complex body shape. But it is more difficult to lose during transportation.
The included cable is a meter long and is only sufficient for recharging. When connecting to a TV or PC, a longer cord may be required.
Settings
Since the gamepad is compatible with devices running different operating systems (Windows, Android and others), this made it possible to abandon the development of several versions of the proprietary utility. Yes, and the backlight is adjusted once or twice, or maybe even turned off.
In Android mode, the gamepad can be switched to mouse mode – such solutions have become quite popular lately. In particular, they are often used in smart remote controls.
Below we will publish photo instructions for the Bloody GPW70 with all the meanings and key combinations, but we will present the main ones.
- Pressing the “Home” button switches between wired and wireless mode;
- Setting the vibration intensity: Turbo button and right joystick up and down;
- You can record macros using key combinations: press the ML or MR keys from behind for 5 seconds. Type the sequence and then press ML or MR% again;
- Setting the backlight. Joystick and letter zone: “Led” key + D-pad up/down – effects, and right/left – colors. The line glow effect is “Led” + “Start”, and its color is “Led” + “Back”.
There is also a large table of the functions of each key when connected to different compatible systems, which are PC, Android (smartphones, tablets and TVs), PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Switch consoles. “Vidroid” must be version 5 or higher.
The controller charges fully in 2.5 hours. At the same time, it lasts for 13 hours without backlight and vibration and for 7 hours if all this works.
Impressions
The Bloody GPW70 gamepad makes a double impression. On the one hand, this is a classic controller with a layout like for Xbox, while being compatible with different systems. In addition, there is a feeling of the “game combine” being overloaded with functions.
The controller looks cool and has a comfortable body, and the backlight has more than just an aesthetic function. No additional software is required for setup. The buttons work clearly, the vibration feedback is not too strong and pleasantly complements the gaming experience.
But time to study the instructions is just necessary if you want to use all the goodies of the device. On the other hand, no one forces you to do this. The Bloody GPW70 controller can be used immediately after connecting and holding down the “Home” button to switch between wired and wireless mode. The device as a whole does not have any shortcomings, and if we mention the cost, then this is definitely a great solution for those who want to dive into the world of consoles with their PC’s.
