Apple’s Next Leap: MacBook Ultra with M6 Chip and Touchscreen OLED Rumored
09.03.26
Apple is poised to introduce updated MacBook Pro variants later this year, boasting touchscreen OLED technology and next-gen M6 processors. This new series was originally thought to be a direct successor to the current M5 Pro and M5 Max models.
Nevertheless, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates a potential change in direction. He suggests the new laptop might adopt the “Ultra” branding, positioning itself as a premium tier above the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max lineup.
Although the final naming—whether “Ultra” or “Pro”—remains uncertain, a significant price increase is anticipated. Analysts predict that the integration of OLED touchscreens could push the cost of these MacBooks up by as much as 20%.
Furthermore, Apple is reportedly diversifying its portfolio to cover various price segments. Following the debut of the $599 MacBook Neo, the tech giant appears to be implementing a similar multi-tier strategy for its high-end professional hardware.
These advanced OLED-equipped touchscreen MacBooks are currently slated for a release in the fourth quarter of 2026.
