WhatsApp tidies up chats: a folder for business notifications is coming

WhatsApp developers are aiming to solve the problem of cluttered main chat lists caused by an abundance of notifications from banks, airlines, and other large companies. To address this, the messenger has started testing a special section for business correspondence.

How the “Offers & Updates” folder works

According to new reports, the service plans to introduce an automatic sorting feature. All incoming messages from large corporations will be automatically moved to an “Offers & Updates” folder after a certain period. This will keep only personal messages and contacts that are truly important to the user in the main feed.

Settings and limitations

At the moment, Meta is testing various automation scenarios, including a delay of up to 24 hours before moving a message. Users will have the choice to either trust the system settings or completely disable this option in the app menu. It is worth noting that the developers have not provided the ability to set a custom interval for sorting — users are offered to use ready-made presets or opt out of the feature entirely.

Who will be subject to automatic sorting

During the testing phase, the changes affect only large business players. Personal contacts and chats with small business representatives will remain in the main chat list without automatic relocation for now. In the future, the developers plan to consider expanding the feature to integrate messages from small business representatives into the same dedicated folder.
