The Godox C100 brings photography back to a classic approach

Godox C100: ultra-budget compact camera

The Godox company presented an interesting novelty – a compact camera Godox C100. The main conceptual difference of the model was the complete abandonment of the standard rear LCD screen in favor of a transparent optical viewfinder. This approach turns the shooting process into conscious creativity, eliminating dependence on a digital display.

Positioning

Godox C100 is a device for those who want to focus on the moment and not on the technical part of the process. The optical viewfinder of the gadget has a light transmission ratio of more than 50%, through it the photographer sees the real world, on top of which all critical shooting data is superimposed: battery charge, selected mode, exposure parameters and a grid for precise framing. In this concept, the manufacturer sees a way to save the user from the influence of bright displays and smartphones.

Main characteristics of the device

Despite the budget, the camera offers the minimum necessary functionality for everyday shooting. Among the main parameters:

  • ultralight body weighing only 65 grams;
  • support for different frame formats: 1:1, 3:2, 4:3 and 16:9;
  • slot for microSD cards up to 128 GB;
  • USB-C connector for direct file transfer to a smartphone or computer.

Interestingly, the camera deliberately lacks Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. This decision was made by the developers to significantly reduce the final cost of the device.

Limitations and nuances of use

Since there is no LCD screen in the camera, the user does not have the opportunity to instantly view the captured frames, make quick corrections or quickly delete unnecessary pictures directly on the device. This brings the C100 experience closer to that of film cameras, where post-processing rather than in-shot results are important.

Compact dimensions of the camera

The image quality corresponds to the segment of simple “soap boxes” and cameras for children. According to Godox, the main target audience of the gadget is students and young people who are looking for an affordable tool for visual experiments.

Price and availability

At the moment, the camera is announced for the Chinese market. Its cost is about 1,160 hryvnias ($29). It is expected that after the premiere, the device will appear on the global market. Due to the extremely affordable price, the camera can be considered as an original gift or a simple device for everyday use.

Godox C100 camera in use

If you are looking for an unusual device to change the usual algorithm of creating pictures “see-shoot-check”, then Godox C100 definitely deserves attention for its simplicity and lack of distracting digital factors.
