Microsoft Edge will provide live voice-over for video translations on YouTube, LinkedIn, Reuters, CNBC, Bloomberg

Microsoft Edge

At the Build conference, Microsoft announced a new feature in the Microsoft Edge browser that will allow real-time translation of videos on sites such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Coursera and others. The feature is based on artificial intelligence and is capable of translating voice content using dubbing and subtitles while watching.

The feature currently supports translation from Spanish to English, as well as from English to German, Hindi, Italian, Russian and Spanish.

Microsoft’s browser will support real-time translation for videos on news sites such as Reuters, CNBC and Bloomberg. Microsoft plans to expand the number of languages and sites it supports in the future.

Edge can now summarize the content of YouTube videos, but it relies on the existing transcript to do so and cannot generate text summaries on its own.
