MacBook with a Secret: SpectraSlideOut Turns Your Laptop into a Dual-Screen System

An additional monitor for your laptop no longer requires a separate device, cables, or complicated setup. Developers at Vertex Innovation have proposed an alternative design — SpectraSlideOut, a solution that integrates seamlessly into a MacBook and can be activated with a single motion.

A New Approach to Expanding Your Screen

Previously, a second display meant a separate accessory that had to be unpacked and connected. SpectraSlideOut works differently. It’s a rigid attachment with a hidden extra panel inside.

The screen stays tucked behind the main display. When needed, the user simply slides it out to the side, gaining additional workspace without extra hassle.

The device is powered directly by the MacBook itself, no adapters or external cables required.

Portability Remains

Even with an integrated second screen, the laptop doesn’t become bulky. Its form factor remains suitable for everyday use — it still fits comfortably into a standard bag or backpack.

Focus on Perfect Compatibility

Instead of universal compatibility, the developers aimed for precise fit for specific models. Initially, the device will be available for:

  • MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ with M4 processors
  • MacBook Air 13″ and 15″ with M2 and M3 chips

Users can also choose between two materials: practical ABS plastic or a premium anodized aluminum version that matches Apple’s signature style.

Launch and Expectations

The project will launch on Indiegogo in late April 2026. The exact price has not yet been disclosed, but early buyers can expect a significantly lower cost compared to the retail release.
