In the first quarter of 2024, the Xbox Series sold 5 times less than the Sony PlayStation
20.05.24
Analyst Daniel Ahmad reported that the PlayStation 5 shipped 4.5 million units in the last quarter, which he estimates is nearly 5 times more than the Xbox Series X|S shipped in the same period. So the Xbox Series shipped less than 1 million units between January and March 2024, which is the last quarter of fiscal 2023.
Also, given the news about the closure of Xbox studios, the situation in Microsoft’s gaming division looks much less optimistic compared to competitors from Sony. The Sony PlayStation 5 sold 20.8 million units in the last fiscal year, bringing its all-time sales total to 59 million. These are pretty good numbers, but the situation is much worse for Xbox.
